Unhappy with oreo update

Since the oreo update, the profile sharing feature does not work.  How to fix? I've restarted,  reset network connection,  restarted in safe mode. No luck

Welcome to the world of major system updates.

I really don't like how when you swipe away and notification at also gets rid of the number badge on the app. It was nice to be able to swipe away the notification but remember with the number badge that there was still an email or something there. Would like that feature brought back

Have you cleared the cache partition since the update?

Turn the phone off then press and hold volume up-power-home

Then when the phone goes into recovery mode use the volume down button to highlight

clear cache partition then press power then use volume down to say yes press power

again. Then just reboot the phone. This not change any of the settings on the just clears out

a bunch of the old files that maybe conflicting with the new files.

Will this work for an Galaxy S7?

I Want to try before the standard Verizon recommendation to reset the phone (sucks)

I've got multiple app issues including Norton Security.. themes don't work, apps don't close after exit even though set to in Developer mode, probably just tip of iceberg.

Update this did not work on my Galaxy S7... just failed message,  locked it up and had to call Verizon who then gave me to Samsung to get it unlocked and working again ☹

Major updates can, and often do, bring major problems as well.  I wonder how much testing is done before they're pushed to users.

And, really annoying that the keyboard in the messaging app keep defaulting to Samsung Keyboard even after changing to Google Keyboard - this keyboard stinks, as does it's voice to text.  Why can we not have Google Keyboard as default anymore.

And, unhappy that you cannot have different notification sounds for different contacts when they text you.

THIS!! I text more than I call, so not having the option to customize my tones by contact is annoying.

Thank you for beating me to it! I had individual tones for my most frequently used contacts and everything is gone! Annoyed is putting it mildly!!

KATMINCH,

Being able to have your phone set up in a way that's convenient for you is a must. Software updates can change the options that are available, but it's up to the manufacturer to bring the feature back in a later update. The good thing is that if you use the Message+ app for your default messaging option, you do have the option to customize your message notifications that way. To do so, open your contact's message thread, choose Menu(three dots upper right), Customize and then Tones.

So frustrating that you take a way old, good features in place of [removed] stuff.  Figure out how to add stuff on without removing features for crying out loud!

I know what you mean when the whole phone changes all at once with a new operating system. That's why I like this forum. There are a lot of people on here that have the patience to go thru all the settings and find ways to get back a lot of the old things that we liked about the phone before the update or how they fixed it to work even better then it did at first.I am sure if we wait long enough someone will come on here and tell us how to fix a lot of these problems

I am completely ticked off about this update. it has cost me 10 to 20 hours of my time trying to get my phone to be usuable like it was before the update. I use it to run my business so that update cost me more in time than the S7 did itself.

today I had a bunny dancing next to my text messages. I cant use OK Google without setting up some system that wants access to my contacts. it wants to let me know every stupid little thing that is going on with the phone when its supposed to be in lock screen.

I thought windows 10 update was bad, I am not some 13 year old that wants to see goofy icons next to his texts. i cant believe that Verizon thought after all the money i pay each month i was going to be ok with all this crammed down my throat. i cant even get ahold of Verizon, the wait times have been over 20 minutes and i finally give up

one seriously irritated customer!

Sorry but that really isn't helpful. I don't have a lot of apps but those I do take a lot to set up. my phone worked just fine before the update. now I am having issues with several apps. they also changed the interface on several things including texting.

how do I get back to 7.3 and get rid of 8.0? I have not seen one thing that is better on Oreo and about 100 things that are worse

thanks

We apologize if you feel as if that step would not be helpful, but, that would be next best step to complete to see if the issue persists or not, BMDragon. Or, we would have to wait for another update to be released. You can't revert back to any previous software version, I'm sorry. Prior to resetting your phone, please make sure everything is fully backed up.
