From what I read in all the forums I belong to, on July 7th, Verizon wil cease to have unlimited data plans. If you have an unlimited data plan by July 7th, you will continue to have it until you make any changes to that plan (ie - update your phone) otherwise you will be offered a tiered data plan based on usage.

No one has responded. Is this true? Is it time to research other carriers?

As you can see it is TRUE, the only issue now is how long will Verizon allow current users to update thier phones on thier current contract before making them just to a tierd plan..

I'm just not concerned anymore...it's like going to Disneyworld...once you're on their property, you pay the prices they set for everything. We can mumble and grumble about paying $7 for a large coke, but we all do it and go back and take the grandchildren 2 years later and pay it all over again.  If we are going to caryy these mini computer, more applications than we need smartphones, we will have to pay for the "Wow" factors regardless of what carrier we use...I really don't care if I pay $10 per month more...it's trivial...as long as I have a phone that functions the way it's advertised...The Fascinate currently does NOT function the way it was advertised.

You forget about choice, I stopped doing business with Disney when they chose to have a special day for homosexuals at their parks, I do not attend professional sports ( except my Rays because they have free parking and you can take your own food into stadium), I do not attend concerts. I don't allow myself to be ripped off by anyone simply because I am old enough to know the difference between what I want and what I need.

I don't need a smartphone and I am fully prepared to go back to just a phone if I am pushed by Verizon. Most people today are very much like lemmings with a herd mentality and are easily manipulated by media. The day that a majority of people refuse to pay for rip-off pricing for things they don't need will be the day prices will come down...wow, what a concept!

"need" has nothing to do with it. "want" is the issue at hand. Everyone has their own sense of what value data offers, for some, their want of mobile internet far outweighs a "measly" $30/month charge.

Verizon will charge you the absolute highest amount of money you are willing to pay for what you want and not a penny less. The point I am trying to get across is that consumers make it easy for companies to overcharge because they buy unneeded things no matter the price.

Companies lower prices when forced to by a lack of demand for their products or services, they also raise prices or decrease the services they provide for a given amount as long as they have enough lemmings clamoring for their wares. In regards to what is needed versus what is wanted you are right; it varies with the individual...mostly the individuals age.

If you have lived a substantial part of your life and raised your children before the internet and cellular phones existed, you know for a fact that you don't need them to live your life, if computers, internet and cellular phones is all you have ever known then it is very likely you may feel that they are necessary.:smileyhappy:
