Does anyone know if the VPN option works? It is under setting, wireless network, VPN settings. I have a PPTP connection that works fine from my desktop but "fails to connect to server" when tried on my phone.
I see this is a general issue with Verizon ... VPN is not working on any of the Motorola droids as well and there appears to be no real answer from Verizon as to when the issue will be fixed. This is an important business issue for the droid community.
when you say VPN are you saying it won't connect thru the
"Verizon Network Extender"?
DUDE! I just ordered the new Fascinate online. IT MUST WORK THRU THE NETWORK EXTENDER OR I AM
SCREWED! I GOT MY HOME LAND LINE PHONE DISCONNECTED ALREADY!
I have provided some information below that may help.
Ensure the VPN connection is set up properly.
***Contact the VPN administrator for assistance with server information and credentials.

Sorry to say that showing the scrreen shots does not make it work. The bottom line is the the ROM supplied by Verizon/Samsung/Google - whoever you want to blame does not support VPN connections.
Here is a log and one VPN vendors answer.

We think the reason behind this error is that, either your phone not support VPN or the ROM u r using have VPN problem.( from my own experience, I think it's the ROM problem)
We have an issue where our Droid users can connect to our VPN (via L2TP with PSK) just fine, over WiFi. However, we have one user who recently got a Fascinate, and with the same settings at the Droid users, the Fascinate will not connect to our VPN. It tries for 20-30 seconds, then finally says that it was not able to connect. The logs from our VPN headend doesn't show any problems during the connection phase. We're using a Cisco 5510 ASA to terminate VPN sessions.
