Verizon, Google and Microsoft - Froyo 2.2

We might be overlooking the obvious as we patiently wait for Froyo for our Fascinate phones. Do you think that Google wants to push a new more powerful O/S out to a device that Verizon has a contract with Microsoft Bing as the default search engine? Search engines are high revenue generators and last time I checked Google and Microsoft where more of a competitor than a partner in the search engine market.

Verizon Wireless will begin pushing Android 2.2, Froyo, to the Samsung Fascinate tomorrow. Enhancements include support for Adobe Flash Player. Customers can visit www.verizonwireless.com/fascinatesupport for more information and download instructions for the software update. Customers will be able to download the update manually starting tomorrow by going to Settings > About Phone > Update Phone.

This was discussed in another 2.2 thread.

why would it make a difference now seeing the fascinate came with bing on it in the first place, its not something they are trying to change its always been there so why should be different for 2.2 than 2.1

This topic has become somewhat moot due to Samsung's release of the final source code for Froyo for Fascinate. As soon as Verizon signs off on it it will be pushed out OTA.

Ah, the million dollar question.  How long will it take Verizon to sign off?  Any reference to the word "S-O-O-N" will probably met with severe rolling of the eyes by Fascinate users.:smileyvery-happy:

How long it will take for vzw to sign off on it will probably depend on how many lawyers are involved!

My guess is when your contract expires and you are looking for a new phone, remember Verizon is in the business in selling phones and services, not service to their customers..

Over at XDA a poster reminded us that the Samsung Epic got it's source code released on a Friday and the OTA was released by Sprint the following Monday late around midnight...so let's hope...
