Verizon phone NOT unlocking after 60 days

I puchased a Samsung A02s in December 2021 from walmart for my daughter, which was activated in January 2022 for 2 months (prepaid service), after which we ended service.  She has still been using the phone for wifi and such.  We recently tried to activate the phone for her with another carrier, but are unable  to, due to the phone undicating it is still locked.  Called customer service and was told that there is no record of the phone with that IMEI being activated?  I was told the only way to remove the lock was to activiate the phone for yet another 2 months!  I obviously have reciepts and credit statements reflecting payments made, as well as a phone number and texts from my daughter during those 2 months.  This had been a very frustrating situation, and as a longtime customer  myself I am considering a change, as I feel they were trying to get me to activate her phone with verizon for another 60 days, which was even more frustrating. Anyone have this issue?  How was it resolved?

The 60 day policy only applies to contract/post paid phones. Prepaid phones have a different unlock policy

I think it's a glitch because several customers who have paid off phones and did use the phones for the requisite 60 days on the Verizon network recently posted about this problem of the phones somehow getting locked again.  One person said their phone wasn't even a Verizon carrier model and it got locked by Verizon!  Wasn't a case of phone being lost/stolen either.  Per Verizon's website, below is the text on the unlocking policy for both postpaid and prepaid devices.  Someone said they had to file a complaint with the FCC before someone at Verizon finally unlocked their phone.  I'm guessing it's hard to find the right person who knows how to get around whatever IT issue this is?

Postpay Device Unlocking Policy

Devices that you purchase from Verizon are locked for 60 days after purchase. Devices that you purchase from our retail partners are locked for 60 days after activation. After 60 days, we will automatically remove the lock. Following the 60 day lock period, we do not lock our phones at any time.

Prepaid Device Unlocking Policy

Devices that you purchase from Verizon and certain devices purchased from our retail partners are locked for 60 days after activation. After 60 days, we will automatically remove the lock. Following the 60 day lock period following device purchase, we do not lock our phones at any time.

If you purchase a 4G Phone-in-a-Box from our retail partners, you should review the back of the box to determine the lock period applicable to that device.
