Right but checking other carriers I found one now that can give me two data phones and the other two phones on my plan I have now with Verizon ( right now I have three phones and one data phone ) for almost $75.00 cheaper and both data phones are unlimited and for $20.00 more I can teather a phone for other wifi/ data things like Ipods. I would say Verizon is caring more for them then me. I will say it again as well, once I switch unless the new carrier merges with Verizon wireless I will have no reason to go back and saying people will evaluate their carrier every two years is wrong. If I did that I would have left ten years or so ago when Verizon starting messing up my account.

When Verizon implements a shared data plan, they need to have tools in place for the account holder to be able to track data easier during the month, and also implement controls to limit data on EACH LINE.
But to allow the account holder to proactively manage the shared data on all lines would be counter productive to Verizon's desire to increase revenue. Watching accounts go over the limit to be able to add blocks of data and increase a persons data bill is one way to increase revenue.
there's a widget on my home screen that shows me how much data i've used during the current cycle. if i tap it, it also shows me the total shared minutes and texts for all 3 lines on the plan. how much easier could it possibly be to track this information? i see it every time i unlock the screen. if someone is on a limited plan, they can easily see when they get close to the limit and take little timmy's phone away. i don't disagree that they like people to exceed their limit and pay overage charges, but that is REAL easy to avoid. and the app i use is verizon's own app. it's not like they are trying to hide this info, but it is up to the account holder to know where his account stands.
My problem is that those of us that currently have unlimited data or would choose to stay with it in the future are not being given much of a choice. They are telling us if we want to keep it, then no more phones at upgrade price. The reason this is evil or immoral is that we will then go on a continuing contract, but we will still be paying a carrier subsidy as part of that payment. When I got my Rezound, I paid $249 (employer discount), but the phones retail is $649.99. To make up that difference verizon charges me X dollars a month to pay themselves back for what they already paid HTC. Whether I keep my Rezound at the end of the contract or pay full price for another phone, my monthly bill is still going to include those X dollars. The only difference is now they are pure profit to Verizon. That's what wrong with this situation.
They're crooks. Plain and simple.
We can only hope that is the outcome. Hopefully the there are some shareholders out there that are Verizon customers who also think this situation stinks. If you figure out the X dollars carrier subsidy on a Rezound is roughly $14.58 per month (649.99 - 299.99 = $350 / 24 = $14.583).
Once my contact lapses in November 2013, Verizon will still be collecting that $14.58 from me. The only way the fee will be legitimate is if I drink the Verizon Kool-Aid and switch to a shared data plan.
Then I can get my next phone at upgrade cost that the Verizon Circle of Life continues.

We don't want that, but money management might be a good place to start. I just went to Motley Fool to see what Verizon dividend rate is. As of March 2012 it is $0.50 per share. That may not sound like a lot, but when you have in excess of 2.8 billion shares on the market, that quarterly dividend payment is over $1.4 billion dollars. Last quarter Verizon made $1.7 billion dollars. That leaves $300 million that could be allocated for product development & research. Maybe Verizon could find a new way to process data and thus not have to come after us unlimited data subscribers if they invested more money in the business. I won't begrudge the shareholders a decent rate of return on their investment, but 82% of quarterly profit is kind of high.
That $300 million would go into retained earnings. They have budgeted RD&E expenses that would probably far exceed that. They are part of their expenses that come out of revenue. What's left is profit.
We will not be on a "continuing contract," whatever that is. We will be on NO contract. We can leave anytime we choose. On the other hand, Verizon can stop our unlimited data anytime they choose to.
