WIFI problem..Please help

My WIFI function has stopped working.  I have a non-rooted phone, and everything is updated.  When I select WIFI it says turning on, then turns green like it's on.  The 3G signal stays the same and the WIFI indicator that is normally in the status bar is not there.  I also know it's not working because it takes the normal 3G amount of time to load things like video...not super quick like with WIFI.  Any thoughts on what's up with it?  I've also had problems for the last week or so with my power/lock button not responding, as well as the screen doing nothing when I swipe it to unlock.  Getting frustrated...

Well, the phone is toast.  VZW store rep and customer service had never heard of this problem before.  Did a factory reset, which really didn't work that great because my pics and music are still on my phone.  Oh well, new phone will be here tomorrow.

Have you tried deleting your network and readding it?  If not, go into Setting-Wireless & Networks-Wifi Settings.  Long press on the network under Detected Networks and choose Forget Network.  Then re-connect to it and enter your network key.

This sometimes occurs if you're using a battery saving application. Are you using one? If so, try turning it off and making sure that the setting to have it start is turned off (if that is an option). Then try turning off your phone and turning it back on. This will undo what the app did (some times, turning the application off doesn't fix the issues). See if you have the same issue.

If you're not using a battery saver, then you may want to take it to a Verizon Wireless store.

Also, regarding your phone occasionally freezing, this happens sometimes when there are too many applications running. If you don't already have one, try downloading an application killer and use that to close active apps. Make sure that you leave the setting at the least intrusive (or safest) settings or it may try to force close critical applications, too. I had a similar issue earlier this month, but ensuring that applications are closed has helped with the number of times that the phone freezes.

Thanks for the advice.  The phone shows no detected networks, and I have no way of getting to the option to forget a network.  It doesn't even show the network that I had and have been using.  I tried re-entering the network I have...only for the phone to tell me that it can not add that network.  I also have very few apps running, but I'll try getting rid of the ones I have if that will help with the screen freeze.  I did have appkiller running, but didn't notice a difference while using it, so it's gone.  I'm pretty sure this is going to be a trip to VZW in the morning.  Maybe I'll ask him if he's found my 2.2 while I'm there!

Does it just say Disconnected under W-Fi in Wi-Fi Settings?  Try restarting your phone if you haven't already.  If that doesn't work, restart your router by unplugged the power cord for 15 seconds or so.  You can also view the list of networks it's set to connect to by scrolling down to Manage Networks under Wi-Fi Settings.

It says I'm connected, but I can't access anything in the Wireless menu.  I've reset my router, and I know it's working because that's what I'm using for my laptop.  I've also restarted the phone three times today, two of which were a battery pull because of the power button not working.  I did go and delete the apps I wasn't using, and the swipe response is better.  The power/lock button still requires 2 to 5 times of hitting it before it recognizes me, if it recognizes me at all...

Sounds like a factory reset is in your future.  That's most likely what they'll do at the store.

When is the last time you shut the phone off and pulled the battery? Sometimes that helps.
