Well HERE'S a kick in the pants...

I awoke this morning to my wife telling me that her phone was apparently getting an update.  She has a Droid Razr...and it's now updated to 4.1.2.  I, on the other hand, have a GNEX that is  S T I L L  running 4.1.1!!!  And NO, my wife is no tester or developer...  So riddle me this, Batman; what is Verizon up to NOW?  A STOCK Razr gets a newer version JB than a Nexus?  All I know is that I left T-Mobile for what I THOUGHT was bad customer service...I'm looking forward to going back in about another year, and taking my entire family with me.  What makes this whole ordeal even sadder is that Verizon simply ignores our contempt and anger.  They don't give us any idea of what's going on...not even a simple "Hey, sorry but we're working on it."

A kick in the pants? Really? A minor point upgrade on older phone compared to yours and you're throwing a fit? Well I guess some people are "born to kvetch." Hey, I believe in entitlements, but we don't always get what we're "entitled" to.

Don't you think it is fair that Verizon should work on the phones that have yet to be updated to JB, rather than updating your GNEX from 4.1.1 to 4.1.2? And you would leave a carrier over that?

I think the last rumor/leak was for an update to 4.2.2.  I'll wait for that on my Galaxy Nexus.

I'm most definitely NOT a VZW employee. If a post answered your question, please mark it as the answer.

Yeah, it IS a kick in the pants, because a Nexus phone is SUPPOSED to receive updates before others.  That's one of the major selling points of the Nexus line.  That's not called an entitlement...it's called getting what you pay for.  It's also called a business living up to their marketing; neither of which is the case in this instance.  If you've bothered to follow the GNEX discussions you'll see that there is a LOT of disenchantment with the way Verizon is handling the updates on the line.  But, I  suppose that some people are simply born to attempt to upbraid people without really paying attention to what the real issues are behind what they're saying.  I suppose the same ilk that believes in entitlements...

I don't have any problem with Verizon updating other phones.  They SHOULD update EVERYONE'S phones in a timely manner.  My original posting simply references the fact that in selling the GNEX, they market it as receiving the latest Android software FIRST.  That, and not having the usual carrier bloatware forced down our throats is the reason many, if not most of us bought the phone.  Hey, I'm glad for my wife...I simply would like Verizon to have done what they said when they sold me the device.  I've sat back and watched every other major carrier update their Nexus line well ahead of Verizon, while there's not even a WORD of explanation from them.  << Comment removed to comply with >>

As to why I'd leave at the end of my contract...since this string is about the GNEX I didn't bother to go into the entire litany of difficulties, poor customer service, crappy reps, failures to follow up on commitments, and outright lies we've experienced.  Times we've called over issues, only to be told a week later, after the issue has NOT been resolved, that there doesn't seem to be any record of our previous call, and there's nothing that can be done but go from there.  Even when I pointed out to a supervisor that there was a call ON MY VERIZON BILL showing that we'd spoken to them on the date at the time we claimed...they said that since there was no record of what was discussed we were pretty much out of luck.  I could go on...but like I said, this string is about the GNEX.

I have 4.2.2 on my Nexus 7.  What can it do that your Galaxy Nexus can't do that's so important?
