That is a great question! You can process a BackUp on youyr Verizon Cloud application. You will open the application, and it will prompt you to backup your device. JasonC_VZW

JasonC_VZW, are you sure will this backup my apps, all home page icons and shortcuts, pics on the SD card?  I want to backup all of these.

According to the app, it only backs up contacts, photos and videos (on the phone I believe), music, documents, and messages.

jrh4054, we completely understand how important it is to have your personal data saved and stored in a safe place before your new phone is activated. We certainly wouldn't want you to lose any important information.

Verizon Cloud is a great choice when it comes to saving contacts, call logs, messages and some additional media. The items that you've described, such as apps, homepage icons, shortcuts and pictures that are currently saved to the SD card would not be eligible for Verizon Cloud. Those specific items may require other services or steps to be saved. You can learn more about Verizon Cloud here: https://www.verizonwireless.com/support/verizon-cloud-faqs/

In order to provide the best support to suit your needs, we'd like to gather more information. Can you tell us the make/model of the new phone that you've purchased or currently have in mind? Are you currently using any services to back up your personal information besides Google Photos?

For me personally? Not using a VZW Cloud account is my choice.

I'm most definitely NOT a VZW employee. If a post answered your question, please mark it as the answer.

Do you have any ideas for backing up the S7 using something other than the VZW Cloud?

Google Photos for the pictures. A SMS Backup application available from the Play Store for the SMS and MMS messages. Use the backup feature to your Google account. You can also connect the phone to your computer via the USB cable to transfer your items. I know it is more steps, but you also know what has been transferred.

This is a bit more difficult, but would certainly work.  I do use my Google account and the Google Photo app to backup the pics, but I don't think this backs up the pics the card.  I can back them up to my laptop.  Also, there is a VZW app called 'Transfer' which allows a wireless transfer from one phone to another.  Are you familiar either this app? My concern is that once the new phone has been activated, I will lose much of the functions of the old phone.

You can setup the new phone on Wi-Fi only and once you get everything transferred then you can move the SIM card over to the new phone.

Sorry, not a Samsung fan. If it is anything like the old Motorola transfer application on the Moto X models, I would be okay with it.

If you aren't a Samsung fan, why are you participating in the S7 community?

I read all of the community and assist where I can even in the sections of products I don't have or care to use. I'm even less of an Apple fan than Samsung and I participate there too.

Android is android.  If you are switching between Samsung devices, Samsung switch does a decent job of switching everything.
