I'm tired of the flaws of 5.0 and need a change. Why is Verizon so slow at updating the S5 to 5.1 when so many other phones and service providers have it?

rwdxyz24,
I'm great to see that you are interested in the Lollipop software upgrade. As much as I wish we had more information, no definite date for that update. But you can check this link for updates when they become available: http://vz.to/1Isp89s

This link doesn't show anything other than the last update which was in the beginning of August. It is now October and I know other carriers got the 5.1 upgrade for Samsung Galaxy S5 so am curious on when we will get it? My corporate connection can not be made without this upgrade and I am starting to think that going to another phone or even provider will be faster and better. Is there anything that Verizon can tell us than to look at a website that hasn't changed?

Verizon doesn't care about existing customers. They've already got us on the hook. They are looking at new customers, focusing on existing 5.1.1 or Marshmellow installations on newer devices.
The only way they will start to pay attention is when a mass number of S5 users jump ship and I mean leave Verizon Wireless altogether.
I am seriously considering moving to a different provider. T-Mobile seems to be on the forefront when it comes to US upgrades of Android OS's.

ME.Elocin I'm sad to learn you are thinking of leaving us. I understand you want the update. At this time I don't have any information to share. However, you can sign up for email alerts to be one of the first to find out when it is. http://bit.ly/1j2JFsG

If we are not getting the update, at least give us guidance on upgrading our phones. I have over a year remaining, and if verizon were to allow me to update now to the s6 I'd just do that and be happy. Tying out hands is not good PR. How about a little transparency and flexibility on this?

Keeping your phone up to date is always key GregR1. We always want your phone running at its best. We wouldn't want to see you think about another carrier. Although we don't have a release date yet, as soon as it is available, it will be pushed to your phone. You can also stay up to date with updates here: http://vz.to/1GKIbN0.

Maybe we should all not pay our bill and tell them we have no dates for when it will get paid.
This is rediculous. At&t ,t-mobile and even US cellular have the update.. if someone sold you a lock to your home with a vulnerability and the company didn't fix it you would leave the company.. I say we boycott if something doesn't get done soon.. I'm sick of hearing they have no info on the update..

Maybe we as paying customers should do some type of boycott or send the ceo and owners ridiculous amounts of negative input. I was promised a phone that would be with a always up to date system. Nope. All i got was a samsung galaxy zero wanna b s5 crud. I got suckered by a representative for your company. Ty.

I'm another very disappointed Verizon customer. My S5 has worked like garbage since the 5.0 update. Did 7 factory resets this year already. I want the 5.1.1 update ASAP. It's taking way to long for Verizon to push this update out. I'm ready to root my phone to get the update. I'll be leaving Verizon at the end of this contract.

My husband and I both have the s5 and they are running like garbage! All a sudden they both got a "mysterious virus" that version supposedly doesn't know how to fix. This is crap considering the price of their service.

I rely on my device everyday and would be concerned too if it started to misbehave. What is going on with your phone? Why do you believe you have a virus? Have you tried to uninstall any new applications? Have you downloaded any updates for your apps?

If I were to complete as many factory resets as you have, WXScan, I too would be clamoring for a fix. While we have zero details as to the availability date for 5.1.1, to ensure that you are informed of this software release ASAP, we recommend subscribing to our email list that informs of all the latest updates: http://bit.ly/dDumph . In the mean time, we can treat the symptoms of what’s going on currently. What in particular is happening with your S5?

It is disingenuous for you to make people on this forum feel like you can solve their issues. I took my phone, which was great before the update to 5.0, to the Verizon store, and they verified that there was no fix. They issued me a refurbished phone and instructed me not to update it until 5.1 comes out. So much for all your advice. I realize you are not Verizon management, but you would think that you could escalate this issue to someone who understands the importance of this public relations debacle. All we want is honesty as to when we will see 5.1 for our S5. Even your update page doesn't indicate exactly what version is being released.

If they other companies have gotten the update out then why hasn't verizon? I just wanna know if its because they need to get the bloatware working, if they arent as competent or if they just dont care? Answer this question so we can all know

So, Verizon was the first of the US carriers to push out the 5.0 update for the GS5, and it was a complete bust. They were the first (or one of the first) to push out the 5.0 update for the LG G2 in May, which disabled the ability of the G2 to charge at more than a snail's pace (and they just updated that phone for the first time since the disastrous May update in November, but didn't list charging problems as a fix, and it broke the GPS in a family member's G2.) Because of the poor track records of the Verizon approved and bloated software updates, I'd rather wait until they have a well functioning and properly tested software version before pushing it to their subscribers.
My GS5 is running fantastic, especially once I disabled most of the Verizon bloatware and *disabled advanced calling*. I have 4 separate push email accounts running on my phone, and I average more than 4 hours of screen on time and around 14 hours of standby time which is fantastic. The only thing I wish they would consider is allowing us to use the fm receiver built into our GS5 (Verizon disabled the customers of their versions of all smartphones they sell's fm receiver in all of their devices), and I really wish they would re-enable the Samsung browser because Chrome leaks too much RAM in Touchwiz. We would have a smoother experience with the ability to use the Samsung browser. I just don't want a garbage software version pushed that will break the phone, why would you?
