Verizon Wireless has no control over the updates beyond verifying them for certification and testing.

Samsung likely hasn't finished writing the code for the update.

If you like updates, Verizon and Samsung are the last companies you want to do business with! They are both terribly slow, so put them together, and you're bound to wait months for an update.
Lollipop 5.1.1 was released in April and we're still waiting. I've given up at this point and have just decided to not do business with either next time I'm ready to purchase.

Yea, Verizon doesn't seem to care if they have us for customers or not!

If you really believe that I have a bridge I would love to sell you. They all ( different carriers ) get the updates from Samsung at the same time and then Verizon does whatever they want to it before they push it to us. Unfortunately Verizon adds a lot of bloatware to it and then tests has to make sure their stuff doesn't break the phone, but most of the time it does. I have been around the block with this having a S3, S4, S5 and Notes 3 and 4. Usually about the time a new updated phone comes out, they send us a partial update which we all bite into and breaks our phone. Then they wait until we are frustrated enough to buy a new phone to see if the new one will work any better than the old one. My next phone will be a Nexus, where Verizon does not send out the updates, Google does. It will have all the newest stuff the fastest. Done with Samsung and if there was something better out there, I would be done with Verizon

Our customers are the reason we exist so we have the utmost respect for you all. We know that everyone is highly anticipating the release of the 5.1.1 software. I am as well being a owner of the Note 4. Google has the main control of it's release as Ann154 stated. Personally, I perfer them take as long as they need in order to get any and all glitches handeled before a mass release. Is there anything outside of this that drove you to making that statement? We are here to help.

I would totally agree with you if they didn't break so many users phone with the prior updates. The same thing happened to me with a Note 3 and I had to buy the Note 4 to get a usable phone. Took months of arguing with you people to make that happen. I finally got a sympathetic manager that let me upgrade early. And that cost me $299 a little over a year ago. The Note 4 worked Great till the stagefright update and now the sensitivity is down and Bluetooth is acting crazy. I normally use it in safe mode so I can actually make phone calls. I feel like Verizon is pushing me into buying another phone to get me something usable. I know I will not get a Samsung, even though I like the phone when it works, it just doesn't work for an extended period of time. I know you guys are trying to help, but it just seems too many people have the same problems to be an isolated thing. Please HELP US! We pay too much for our service to not have usable phones!

Oh please. Verizon and every other carrier has had 5.1.1 for months. How come other carriers already have it? How come it's already on other phones? Just like the Note 3 as was mentioned, I upgraded to the Note 4 to get a phone that would even work. Stop the lies Verizon, just stop. Do you not read or do you just not care? There are thousands of posts on the same subject, you not taking care of your customers. Nexus and AT&T here I come. Done with your lies Verizon.

Verizon Wireless and the other carriers don't have Android 5.1.1. The manufacturers have the code. Each phone has a team of people writing the code for each phone. I would suspect one team could have several phones assigned to them and some of those phones have a higher priority then the others. There are many phones on many carriers that don't have the update yet.

What are you talking about? Other carriers most certainly have it on their phones. 5.1.1 was released months ago. The fact is, like the Note 3, the need to get it out because of the problems on the Note 4. They never took care of the Note 3. I went nearly 8 months not receiving phone calls. Don't tell me Verizon isn't responsible. It's all their crap they attach that takes forever.

Just Google it on the internet. They keep track of things like that... Just about everybody but Verizon has it...

Why should I look for it? You are the ones trying to prove that Verizon is behind the times?

Just about everybody doesn't mean everybody which points to not everybody has it. T-Mobile doesn't have it and a slew of regions don't have it even though those fan sites includes them in a general sense of a region.

Google is your friend. Verizon is notorious for being late and most every website that follows new technology acknowledges that. This is well documented. I give you the Note 3 as a prime example. Just like ASUS on their tablets, they totally ignored their customers issues while raking in huge dollars and ignoring the problems. I swear, someone here must work for Verizon. Poor customer service is just that, poor. Just look at the Verizon responses, no news like always. They provide nothing but can responses. "We care." Really, then do something and stop bsing. It's beyond old.

Ironically those same technology sites will tell you Verizon has been quicker in the last 2 years than year prior. Generally AT&T and T-Mobile were on average slower. Sprint has sped up and slowed down depending on which manufacturer.

I decided to check the Samsung website. Lollipop 5.0 was issued to the T-Mobile Note 4 after the Verizon model. Of the big four carriers, only Sprint has released 5.1.1 to the Note 4. Which means the T-Mobile and AT&T models are waiting with the Verizon model. Samsung does appear to have released smaller security updates for those three models. Your argument hold no weight.

And your argument that NO carrier has it, is correct? I talked to Samsung and their rep said they released it to all the carriers at the same time... We can argue this till the cows come home. We need the update, we need it now and Verizon wont release it. I guess maybe they are waiting for enough of us to get frustrated enough like they did with the Note 3 to buy new phones and make them even more money!
