Where is Android 4.4 KitKat for the Verizon Galaxy Note 3?!?

Where is it, Verizon?!?!? I called a week ago and tech support tried to tell me it hasn't even been released by Samsung. I know better. Samsung's site shows the releases for the KitKat update and the affected Galaxy Note 3 models. Sprint, AT&T and now T-Mobile have it. Why is "The nation's most reliable network" the last to get it?!?!? How is it that a flagship phone form Samsung doesn't have it yet? KitKat was released in October of 2013!! Samsung's own page shows the update status and the networks its been rolled out to. If we are willing to pay the most for our service, shouldn't we get the best overall service for our phones?

Updates are exciting Jmuscol1. I know how frustrating it can be to wait. Unfortunatley, we do not have any information regarding the release date. However, please feel free to register for alerts on new products and services by clicking, http://bit.ly/dDumph

Verizon is a joke when it comes to updates. I paid full retail price for my note 3. To be treated like this having to wait well beyond a reasonable amount of time to get the software updated is completely unacceptable. Verizon loves to take your money but they have a real problem when it comes to support and keeping you up to date with software upgrades. It really makes me mad because those updates are good for you me and everybody. I don't know a happy Verizon customer, but this is the final straw as soon as my contract is up I'm out. I'll sell my note 3 online and I'll go ahead and buy another one or wait for the note 4 to come out and go that route. Verizon you are despicable. Money hungry and you have lost your vision you've managed to take unlimited data away from just about everybody and its for nothing but pure greed. Who can actually use a smartphone and get by with two gigabytes of data every month? I know I can thank God I'm close to wifi 85 percent of the time. If I wasn't I'd be going over all the time. How come people don't revolt or just cancel their service with Verizon. I don't see one good attribute to showing any loyalty to Verizon anymore. I've had a problem with my phone but I refuse to take it in and have it replaced because I don't want one of their loser refurbished phones I've done that too many times. And over 50 percent of the time I get screwed with a crappy phone. You know Mr Verizon I spent over $700 for this phone and you don't even have the common courtesy to keep it updated you continually put out crappy phones now and you are not at all priced fairly or competitively with the rest of the market. So for that fact alone I'm out of here as soon as I can. Verizon kiss my butt. And do that while walking out the door. if the update finally comes out and it's simply 4.4.2 that would be an absolute disgrace on your part. I'm done now I'm done ranting and I'm done with you Verizon! Sincerely a very unhappy customer who's been with you for 12 years plus. You've done a wonderful job to keep me happy cough cough.

LOL, Verizon is stuck about 10 years into the past when it comes to data usage. Streaming just about 20 minutes of video can consume around 250-500 MB and if it is a live video feed, then you could easily double that in data. Their best data plans were "double the data for the same price" and of course unlimited data, but now they offer none of those deals and assumes that everyone uses only 2 GB a month. I'd say about 5-7 GB a month is average for today's standards, not 2. I can see that they just want to charge top dollar for their data plans.

WOW! this is highly interesting, as well as very suspicious. There was a discussion that was started on this same forum, with the following topic, NOTE3 4.4 KITKAT UPDATE, and it's been locked down, (discussion of moderation removed as required by Verizon Wireless Terms of Service) All we wanted to know is why the Note 3 hasn't received the KitKat 4.4, and when are we going to get it, and it seems Verizon is avoiding answering this question, and why?

I have been noticing that. It seems that they got upset with us in the community for asking where an update is. You're right, all we want is to know where our update is.

This post started March 1st and here it is May 9th and we still talking bout 4.4.2 and every other carrier has begun talks of 4.4.3 lol. Sad Case. I said in the beginning that I didn't think the note 3 would see kitkat 4.4.2 and that version would try and save face by jumping it to 4.4 3. And every week that passes seems more and more likely.

I'm actually hoping that Verizon would push 4.4.3 KitKat OTA for the Note 3 instead of 4.4.2. We have waited long enough and never even received 4.4.0 or 4.4.2 KitKat, so the least they can do is give us the most recent version (4.4.3 KitKat) as soon as it becomes available which should be later this month or sometime in June.

They are probably intentionally watching us squirm for the update. I mean, they locked one forum down because of people rebelling against Verizon on this issue. Nearly 30 pushes worth of complaints, some of which had Verizon's same genetic answers like "I know software updates can be exciting!" And "please be patient" and the classic "we have no confirmed release date as of yet". They simply don't care if we don't get the update. Wish I could give the knuckleheads who are "testing" -cough- installing bloatware -cough-, taking their sweet time testing it a boot to the head!!! Since they disabled the previous forum, they should realize that we are pretty angry at them! But no! They keep hammering the same genetic responses! So tell me Verizon, other than your coverage, and your so-called great customer service, give us one good reason why we should continue contracts with you that are over priced, over hyped, soulless, greedy (especially since you killed unlimited data for almost all users), and above all else have phones that are the slowest to update (for reasons you say that are suppose to be better, especially with compatibility). Tell me why Verizon. No generic explanation that's been copy and pasted over a million times!! There is a leaked version for root users and they are running it just fine! And yes Verizon I know rooting is unsafe and voids the warranty. I won't be rooting, but you are THE carrier that provokes routing due to your slow updates.

You update your older phones like the two year old HTC droid DNA, but not us?! We should be near the front of the line with other phones like the HTC One and LG G2!! This phone is suppose to be superior of those two!!! It's. Better. Than. The. Droid DNA!!! How about you update the original HTC incredible while you're at it!! KitKat can run on devices with only 1ghz and 512mb, and that happens to be one!

I'm done. the sooner this contracts up or close, I'm paying the etf and take my business elsewhere because my family is not paying for 700-900 dollar devices that aren't running the latest software!! My next Note phone will not be on Verizon at this rate if they don't straighten their priorities out and get their heads out of their butts. Notice I'm not seeing because Verizon will "edit" it if I do 🙂

I'm really looking forward to the Android Silver program. Not only will it force carriers to update quicker, it will also force carriers like Verizon to have bloatware uninstallable. It may not be all phones, but it'll give me a satisfied feeling that Verizon will be forced to update it's more up to date phones that will be on Android silver.

I can't count how many times I've complained about this continuous, tedious, old issue. I've called people and chatted with Verizon and Samsung reps in live chats. All of them made me wonder why they have the positions they have.

Well, here's another to add to the seemingly pointless rant that just makes me angrier. The moment I'll be happy again is when I see the KitKat update ready on my phone when I check for the update. Even then I'll still be pretty angry because whatever wait we have to wait out here, we can almost certainly expect for the next update, which I'm willing to bet five bucks that will be the case. So Verizon, if you want to prove you're the best carrier then find a better streamlined way of creating or "testing" updates so users won't feel left out when you're beyond dead last. Prove me wrong Verizon, and I'll stay along with many others who have threatened to dump you on this issue with not just this phone, but your phones in general. Prove me wrong. And if your response is one of those generic responses or close to what I posted above, you would have proven me right. But for the love of God I hope you can prove me wrong so you can redeem yourself as the caring Verizon you used to be. That is all I have to say right now. I only hope you can reflect on what I said along with many others on here if you're reading this at all. And if you are and you appreciate my feedback, you can do so by releasing the update we all have been forced to beg for. Thanks

I have already canceled one of my 3 lines.  Next thing I know I got a promotional free 1gb of data for the month.  Taking me from 6gb to 7gb for the month.   Unless we get this update soon I'm going to slowly start canceling my account until it's cheap enough to cancel altogether.  Sprint sounds really good right now.  Unlimited data and their phones have the update I believe.   Come on Verizon....hook me up with that update or more free promotional stuff or I'm gone.  I already went to Sprint once to switch but the kid didn't know how to do the buy off for my phones

Something else Verizon is making us miss out on:

Google Play Services 4.4 can tell when you're walking or running

Jerry Hildenbrand | 24 minutes ago

Google Play Services

Google has released the 4.4 update for Google Play services, along with a list of new services and APIs. Features have been tweaked and added in the Maps API, new activity recognition features have been added, Games Services have been tweaked to allow multiple game gifts, Wallet fragments now allow an Instant Buy button inside an app, and a new way of displaying mobile ads will allow more targeted ads and direct purchase.

Still waiting on my Note 3 update as well, I clearly made a mistake selecting Verizon as the carrier for my development studio as they do nothing but treat their customers like dirt. Not only do they treat their customers like dirt but choosing them as a service provider for my development studio was a horrible choice, new android update comes out? well our customers have to wait OVER SIX MONTHS before we can really have solid support for that OS because Verizon withholds updates like they're contaminated.

In a few months I'll make the best decision I've made and throw all five of my Verizon lines out and go to a real carrier that actually cares.

It's clear Verizon's care and support for new customers far exceeds it care for current customers. It's been the same for me since the G-nexus it's like the hold a update, release a new device with that update and lure you back into a 2 year trap just to have the latest OS. The got me with that with the S3 then I got the Note 3 and it's the same thing. My 2 years up now they loading my email with S5 offers. (Not happenin)

I don't agree with some of the latest responses.  It has already been said that we will get the update.  So, with so many people asking, it is very poor customer support to not get a response.  Even if they came on and said "we're having trouble with compatibility with certain devices and working hard to provide a clean update for everyone", that would at least let customers know that we're not being ignored.  Don't get me wrong - I know they're working on it, but the lack of response is bad.  Even better would be some word on when we might expect the release.  Of course, if they didn't meet the time, that would not be ideal, but really, I think it would go miles just to have one employee put some time into addressing customer concerns.  I think a lot of people would feel much better if they were just being kept in the loop and felt like Verizon cared about what we want.  I know for myself, it's really just one new app in KitKat that I care about.  All the rest doesn't make a big deal to me.  But, that one app is something I have been very anxious to get going with for quite some time now.

Well what makes consumers so angry is all the mixed signals Vzw is sending out! You only get to talk to CS rep's that aren't up on what's going on or either they aren't able to elaborate on it. (removed) my friend. If there's an issue with it, I'd rather hear that and then I would know that the "Company" cares enough to send out something error free and bug free. That I'm sure would be easier to swallow than that dead (removed) silence they've been giving out. They have plenty of that to go around as we can see.
