Where is Android 4.4 KitKat for the Verizon Galaxy Note 3?!?

Where is it, Verizon?!?!? I called a week ago and tech support tried to tell me it hasn't even been released by Samsung. I know better. Samsung's site shows the releases for the KitKat update and the affected Galaxy Note 3 models. Sprint, AT&T and now T-Mobile have it. Why is "The nation's most reliable network" the last to get it?!?!? How is it that a flagship phone form Samsung doesn't have it yet? KitKat was released in October of 2013!! Samsung's own page shows the update status and the networks its been rolled out to. If we are willing to pay the most for our service, shouldn't we get the best overall service for our phones?

Updates are exciting Jmuscol1. I know how frustrating it can be to wait. Unfortunatley, we do not have any information regarding the release date. However, please feel free to register for alerts on new products and services by clicking, http://bit.ly/dDumph

michaeljtimko,

I understand where you're coming from but you don't have to use the applications or great services we offer. We understand there's many apps to choose from. All you need to do is access Application Manager and Disable those apps that you don't need. This allows you to customize your phone to the way you want it.

That is another issue we all know we can disable these applications as most of us do but that does not get useless applications off our phones that we don't want or use.  Those with 16 gig phones (N3 has 32 gig) but many are out there with the 16 gig phones and they are stuck with these phones.  Many phones VZW sells don't have 32 gig such as the S4 when VZW first started selling the S4.  I don't buy these phones ever but it still don't like this junk ware on my phone,  I want what I want on my phone and nothing else cluttering up my phone.  Disabling of features is another thing many customers along with me are upset about.  VZW deciding we don't want or need these features.  Most of us are adults here and we can make up our own minds about those issues we are not VZW's unwanted stepchildren as it seems VZW like to think and treat us.  I would not even mind if those junk ware apps were pushed when we buy our phones if VZW just made them so we could remove them completely when we see we don't want them.  I just don't see the issues with VZW not doing this for it;s customers and being one up on every carrier in this country and maybe the rest of the world.

And I for one am very concerned about the bloatware in the phones, since all phone carriers have been slapped in the hand by the Federal Government for putting unwanted crap on our phones. Contact the FCC at  FCC.gov and file a complaint. Verizon has to contact you to make sure that you are satisfied, if you are not then the FCC will have sent you a mailer asking you the status of your complaint with VZW, each contact by customers gets one more notch on the belt of punishment to VZW when the FCC decides there are enough complaints, and they will get fined. I've been waiting for this to happen..... Soon, you will see.

VZW thinks the FCC is as stupid as they think their customers are.

As always Verizon... you missed the point.  But I have come to expect this from you.

As japetty said, disabling them still leaves them there taking up valuable real estate in the phones memory.

We don't WANT your apps.  We WANT to be able to delete them from the phone.  No app should be hardwired into the system memory.

We don't want:

Amazon

Amazon MP3

Audible

IMDB

Trip Advisor

Verizon Cloud

Verizon Tones

Verzion Voicemail

VZ Navigator

The only app out of the bunch installed on my phone that I find useful is NFL Mobile.  I even pay the $5 a month to live stream games during the season.

When we bought phones at subsidized pricing and spent two years in contract it was permissible (maybe) to pre-install apps on our phones.  However, now that in most cases we pay the full cost of the handset via either Device Purchase Plan or Edge, this practice needs to stop and STOP NOW!

You no longer need an alternate source of revenue.

You don't get to decide if Verizon wants or needs an alternate source of revenue or not. And if you ran a company you WOULD take an alternate source of revenue. Maybe Verizon should have a feature where for $50 more you can delete the apps. I'm 100% sure that would just tick people of more even though they are getting what they want.

Also posting STOP NOW in bold letters is not going to get Verizon to stop especially on a CUSTOMER to CUSTOMER forum. You know your fellow customers who have ZERO say so in Verizon polices. You're basically screaming at people like me who can't do a darn thing to change Verizon polices to what you want. And frankly I don't appreciate being yelled at for things that are not my fault.

Sirguy all it's seems you want to do is belittle people.

I do realize this is a user to user forum, but from time to time Verizon does poke their nose in here.  my reply was to a Verizon Customer Service agent.

Since Verizon does poke their nose in here from time to time, all I'm doing is making sure they are aware customers are not happy with the status quo.

Verizon makes billions in profit every quarter.  This past quarter they made a 5 billion dollar profit.

They don't need an alternate source of revenue.

Hi,

I just started a petition on Care2: Demand to make it illegal for all Cell Phone Carriers to install Bloatware on all their devices NOW!. I'm hoping that if enough people sign my petition, we can make a difference. Right now I've got 10 signatures — will you help me collect more by adding your name, and then use the links below to share it on social media?

Here's a link to the petition: http://www.care2.com/go/z/e/AH1tt

Would you also please start a petition to make it illegal for TV stations to have commercials? Thank you.

rcschnoor if you would sign it I would in a minute. But that is why I have direct tv. Why should we advertise with bloatware and Not have a option to uninstall. your carrier is getting a kickback by them installing crap thats not needed without your option to uninstall it.

That's interesting, I have watched commercials on Direct TV before. You must have a "special" subscription.

This is probably a stupid question but Verizon releases the Galaxy 5 this Friday.  It runs 4.4 Kitkat.  Would this indicate their network can handle Samsung devices running KitKat?  I know there are separate challenges pushing out upgrades, but was wondering whether the G5 release means anything.  Thanks.

The Samsung GS5 release simply means that they will be selling the Samsung GS5, nothing more. It has nothing to do with any other Samsung devices.Smiley Happy

Thats complete (removed). Most of those bloatware apps restart themselves.  Some dont even have the option to turn them off.  Crap.  Crap.  (removed).  Man I feel for you folks that do customer service, its a hard job I was customer service also.

That being said... that was a (removed) answer. I have a note 3 and I am astonished at the amount of bloatware on it.  I wonder if you actually believe the stuff they have you learn in your training classes.

Just because your manager says it, does not mean its true.  You guys need to quick mucking our phones (yes thats right, we paid for them they are OUR phones) and give us the (removed) update already, sans bloatware.

Thanks.

I really don't understand how Verizon, who claims to be the best, can treat their customers so poorly when it comes to software updates? Consistently coming in last with each new update. This is by far the worst part of being a Verizon customer for me. I don't mind paying a premium over other services if things are in fact better. The lack of support for these phones is a good enough reason for me to leave and join T-Mo which has great reception and speeds where I live, get faster software updates and is much much cheaper.

This is so very true. i don't even use VZW apps period. only verizon app worth something to me is NFL Mobile. all that other stuff is crap. obsolete compared to other apps like it. I just want the update i mean we pay too much money for service to be last to update all the time.

All they ever do is post those links anytime someone ask. Been a loyal customer for years and every discussion only leads to more links being posted. same thing happened when i had the thunderbolt. i should've left then. smh
