Why is my number currently active with two phones and two carriers

My phone is currently using the same phone number as my other phone even though everyone says that's not possible so why is it actually possible and all of these people are lying. cuz right now both of my phones get the same messages and both of my phones can send phone calls and ones on Verizon one's on T-Mobile

My issue is very similar; however, I only receive calls/texts on one device. Most generally, the old busted screen with t-mobile. I bought new device A14 5G, unfortunately network locked to Verizon. After several phone calls, straight talk unlocking dept. GLADLEY TRANSFERRED ME TO the Tracfone Corp. THIS IS CALLED UNIVERSAL BRANDING AND SEEMED TO NOT BE A PROBLEM. All was well n good. However, the network connection with Verizon Sims was NOT tolerable, so I called simple mobile thr next day to see about using my t-mobile sims in new device. THEY informed me there had been an error made and UNDONE everything that Corp. had accomplished the evening before. I repeatedly told them that no error was made and nothing needed to be changed on account unless they could send me updated APN settings, only poor network connection.. long story short- I've been dealing with these uni-bots for 6 weeks now. Finally got new device back activated, was promised reimbursement of 30 days on service plan due to not receiving ANY CALLS, 2 WEEK LATE TEXTS ON NEW DEVICE. Seemed they honored the promise when they were both on still after service end date.. Both devices on, I prepare for another 3 call round, hoping to finally have peace.. They tell me my service is off and I must renew my service-thats why I'm not getting calls/texts.. OMG!! I explained in very simple terms my service is VERY ACTIVE; hence I was calling on old device and they were sending vericodes to new one. Finally got transferred to corp., where thought he understood.. until he seen my service end date.. Back to script and the drawing board. They did, however, manage to turn off new device completely, while still showing connected status./ old device never missed a beat- youtube and the whole nine all the time.. . ugh, I reluctantly renewed my service plan a few days later, counting the days til Verizon says they will unlock device Feb 29th.. Gonna keep broke back phone handy so I can get calls/texts; don't feel it's worth the airtime to try calling anymore.. Leave well enough alone, hope to use t-mobile card in phone after locking term is done.. If not, I AM DONE WITH ANYTHING THAT HAS ANYTHING TO DO WITH VERIZON.. I have been a Simple Mobile Customer for 5 years; when Vzn got in the mix it ALL went downhill fast. Customer service, website functionality, rewards program, data eaters on crack, lost my ACP/Lifeline discount nearly 3 years ago without cause. Repeatedly downloaded documents to reapply; NO PROGRESS! Their network is not half of what any other provider in my area is. I am in process of filing several formal complaints with FCC.. SEEMS THEY ARE ENGAGED IN HOSTILE TAKEOVER BY ACQUIRING THE TRACFONE LINES. MAYBE A PUSH TO THEIR CONTRACT PLANS?
