What type of phone do you have? Have you tried putting it in Airplane mode for a few minutes and then turning Airplane mode off?

Turn off the phone, remove the SIM card (be careful not to touch the gold contacts), wait a few minutes. Then reinsert the SIM card, turn the phone back on, and give it a few minutes to establish a fresh network connection.
Also ensure that your mobile network is set to LTE/CDMA and not Global.

And you're in a strong 4G area? You might try a new SIM card; they're free at Corporate Verizon stores or by calling Customer Service.

Hope that works. There also could be tower issues in your area; you could call Customer Service and have them check.

After a recent update, mine did too - although a few years after your original question. I powered it down (i.e. shut it off), turned it back on again, and it showed it was back on 4G.
