Why is the MMS getting overloaded on my Galaxy S8+?

Any luck with this?? I'm reading this thread and getting so annoyed because the Verizon people keep just giving the same canned response. It had to be a Verizon/Android issue. Other people I know with Androids who don't have Verizon don't have this problem. I'm so close to giving up Verizon and switching to another carrier.

So glad I found this thread and the original one. This issue has been driving me crazy. My wife just got a new Galaxy S9, and this issue happens to her all the time with group MMS texts that come in rapid succession. I've tried several messaging apps to confirm that it's not an app issue. She previously had an S7 and an S8, and this issue never occurred. It occurs every time with the S9. The only way to get it to properly receive rapid MMS messages is to put it in airplane mode and use WiFi calling. Then they come perfectly. I still have her S8. I am going to compare the settings between the two devices. I have a hunch it's an issue with WiFi calling. I don't think I enabled it on her S8 because it had good reception. I enabled it on the S9 because "why not?" I'm wondering if something is going flaky with WiFi calling when cellular network is still enabled as well.

Well it's been almost 2 years since this started so I figured I'd take a look at the forum to see if Verizon has made any progress.  It looks like the original thread (here) is now closed along with others on the subject.  I'm amazed that this problem has continued for so long when so many people have explained exactly how to reproduce it: simply receive a bunch of MMS messages (such as during a busy group text) very quickly and you will then be unable to send/receive any MMS for ~20 minutes.  Afterwards the delayed messages will come flooding in (it's 100% reproducible on the Galaxy S6, 7, 8, and 9, but NOT on iPhones).  I've been using Whatsapp and other chat apps to avoid this problem as much as possible, but sometimes I get dragged into an MMS chat Smiley Sad.

aarons44 Thank you for posting that work around!  Putting on Airplane mode and wifi calling definitely fixes the problem but of course I need to be connected to wifi to do it.  Still, this is more help than I've found anywhere else!

Oh my God, thank you aarons44.  I've been having this issue for years and Verizon has never solved my problem.  Your work around worked the first time.  Thank you for solving a problem that Verizon never bothered, in over three years, to even try fixing.

AnthonyM_VZW, if you had read this thread, you would know that I don't have the problem.  aarons44 had the problem.

I am really glad I found this thread.  I thought it was just my local service and I've been struggling to resolve this issue for a year.  The previous posters nailed the issue exactly.

At least the community was able to figure out that (a) clearly this is a Verizon software issue and not my phone (S9+) and (b) the pre-canned support group is going to do nothing to help us.  I've been trying to start and restart my system until it worked but, like the previous commenters mentioned, you just need to wait 15 minutes to an hour for a flood of out-of-order texts to come through.

Small consolation but now I know what to expect both from my texts and Verizon.  I'll continue to monitor this thread to see if anything ever gets fixed.

PATFER70, we rely on text heavily these days, so providing a resolution to these concerns is important. A year is far to long to wait for a solution. This problem is certainly under investigation and we hope to have a full resolution soon. We truly apologize for the delays, but we hope this information is beneficial.

This thread perfectly describes the issue I'm also having. I have been having this issue for years with multiple galaxy phones and have tried every app and every trouble shooting method out there. Based on reading through the previous thread, this issue was escalated back in August and it doesn't seem there has been any movement. To say I am extremely frustrated with Verizon at this point is an understatement given that textra was able to find the code that is creating the issue and Verizon has yet to fix it is. Knowing that other carriers are not having this issue might be the solution at this point.

Note 8 here been fighting this issue for months now.  I'm giving it another week or so and I'm switching providers.  Been a loyal customer for 10 years now but looks like this issue is never going to be addressed or fixed.

TranceGoD, we know how important our phones are for our daily use, and not having a fully working phone is never fun. We value your loyalty of 10 years, and we want to provide you with the service that you deserve. Could you please elaborate more on what is happening with your Note 8? When did these issues start?

Same exact issue on my S8. Used stock message, message+, google message all the same **bleep** problem.

My buddy is on the same group text with an S8 and different carrier and has no issues. I have it ALL THE TIME.

That it hasn't been fixed or prioritized as a critical issue is astounding.

I have written about this in multiple threads.  It has been on here in various threads for years.   Verizon does nothing except the same beginning troubleshooting that never works.  Please do not respond before reading this thread and the 10 others like it.  Nothing is fixed years later.  same problem

I've had this same issue for years. Thought it was the messaging app, tried several different ones and nope, its not the app. In that time I upgraded from an S8+ to an S10+ and still happening on this phone. It has to be the network. When I am in a group chat and several people are messaging, especially people who like to send a lot of short messages in a row instead of type out a paragraph, the MMS on my entire phone hangs for about 10 minutes, with all my messages stuck in a "sending..." state, and nothing coming in. Then all of a sudden, boom, I get tens of messages I've missed while the MMS network was hung up.

We're sorry to read that you're having trouble with your messaging service. We'd love to help you correct this situation. Please tell us more. Does this happen with both Messages app and Messages+ app? Do you have any issues with your data service? Are all these picture messages o just regular text messages?

This issue is related to the number. Not the software. I have gone through multiple models all with the mms issue. It's not the phone it's the number at the tower level. I have given up I love my number too much.
