Hi. Anyone know if you do a Factory Data Reset AFTER Froyo update, will it revert back to 2.1? I know that after doing a reset before, it updated to the most up to date build number. Not sure about Froyo.
Solved! Go to Correct Answer
No, a reset will not change the OS--operating system. It will only give the phone a blank slate with 2.2 FROYO..
I'm most definitely NOT a VZW employee. If a post answered your question, please mark it as the answer.

No. It will remain with the 2.2 update. Had to reset last night after my phone weny haywire after the update. But phone works great after factory reset.

I've watched the Galaxy S Support team on twitter, and that seems to be the common step to do after updating your phone's OS, is to do a Factory Reset after it. They recommended it to the other devices that got Froyo before the Fascinate, so it may not be a bad idea. I have not had to do it, but I might if I have issues.
It reduces the chance of having your cache corrupted. It they do get corrupted people may have Force Close issues with certain apps, or even have trouble with the market.
Confirmed. Once 2.2 is successfully installed, its there to stay. Factory Data Resets only wipe the phone to a blank state, with 2.2 already installed.
Thanks for all the great info. Mine started off really great but has become buggy over the last couple of days plus the battery life has been well.......for lack of better words.......crappy to say the least. Has anyone noticed any difference with battery life after doing the reset? If not does anyone have any steps to correct it. I have heard of recalibrating the battery but I have not done any research on this subject. Just looking for guidance.
