Wrong location with network extender

We have 2 Samsung Galaxy S3 devices.  We moved to a new house that had poor reception, so we ordered a network extender.  When our phone is getting the signal from the network extender, the phone reads a location that is about an hour away.  This has had the following impacts:

- I didn't get a carrier alert regarding a tornado warning in my area

- Weather is off of the wrong location

- All location aware apps (Yelp, Google Now, etc) display local information off of the wrong place

- I need to activate my GPS and walk outside to get directions from my house

I am certain that the network extender is causing this problem.  If I shut the network extender off, the location corrects.  When I turn the network extender back on, the location will shift back to the incorrect location.

I called Verizon about this when I first received the device.  They sent a replacement GPS module.  I replaced the GPS module within the network extender but I experience the same results.  I have also tried using the antenna.  That didn't make a difference.

Other than the location bug, the network extender works as expected.

This link can register your wifi location correctly, which will override the incorrect location coming from the Network Extender cellular data.

I'm sorry your GPS is not working on your Network Extender bjc144. I'm happy it is working for your signal. Have you contacted us about the replacement also providing you the same error message? Have we ever filed a ticket for your issues? Is your phone numbers from your old area?

I did have a ticket open.

Today I called for a third time.  Apparently, this is a known issue.

This made me even more frustrated.  I paid a lot for this device so that I could stay on the Verizon network, and no one disclosed this defect to me.  Apparently, this issue has been open for years.

Ten years after the original post I have the same problem with an new extender. Verizon customer service tecs level 2 don't seem to have a clue what the fix is. I've called 3 times and chatted twice still no solution.   Bunch of !!

Could  not find a method to replying to Lauren's message.  BUT I have spent three days and about 4 hours on the phone to 4 level 2 tecs and countless customers service reps on the phone and in chat rooms.  Been put on hold, hung up on and left on hold for as long as 45 minutes with no one get back on with NO SOLUTION.  The unit still shows the GPS location being in a town 40 miles away from actual.

To say that I'm fed up with Verizon's so called customer service would be a GROSS UNDERSTATEMENT!!!!.
