Just got the SGS4, with kit kat. Set up my email using imap and if I delete a message from my phone, it also deletes the message from the server, which is definitely a problem. I've been all through the settings and can't seem to find any option to leave e-mails on the server. No idea why this is happening as it has never been an issue on any of my other phones.
IMAP settings don't might not have that option. POP3 settings usually had an option to keep the emails on the server.

I am sorry to hear about the issues you are having with your email. What type of email account are you using? Have you tried to manually set up the email account with POP3 settings to keep emails on the the server? http://vz.to/1jZGAq6
