Great questions! We know the value of protecting your media, especially when it comes to your messages. We want to guide you in the right direction.
Tap on the avatar/photo ID next to a conversation; it should turn to a checkmark. At the top left of the screen will be an X, a number, and ALL. You can select which conversations to save by tapping the contact avatars, or tap ALL to select everything. Then, on the top right there is a download symbol. Tap that to download the selected messages to a file.
You can then use that file and the Restore Messages option to restore the messages to another device.
Hope this helped.

Try using a search engine for "can you download text messages". I don't know if any of those solutions will work with the Messages+ app as that's a Verizon thing. There's always taking screenshots of important texts and then transferring the pictures to cloud storage for safekeeping.
I'm not a Verizon employee, just another customer trying to help.
