Fuzzynco, being able to manage your shortcuts is a convenient feature and I'll be glad to clear up the details regarding your options. When I long press on an empty spot on my Galaxy Note 8 home screen, I only get an option for Wallpapers, Themes, Widgets and Home screen settings.
Things have changed with the 8.0 Oreo update. Please reference the link attached on how to add any necessary shortcuts on your Galaxy S9. I hope this information helps going forward. http://spr.ly/6588DC3jg
