how to remove obsolete contact groups/lists?

I have several contact groups in my Contacts app. How do I delete those that are old and obsolete WITHOUT deleting the contact information per se??

We understand wanting to be able to delete groups without deleting the contacts LINLOC85. We are happy to help. This can be done using the following steps:

1. Tap Contacts

2. Tap Groups

3. Choose the group you want to delete

4. Tap More options

5. Tap Delete

6. Tap Group only to delete only the group
