On a chance, I Googled this topic. I ended up here. Imagine that.  I saw this in my Notification Bar literally seconds after rebooting after the Verizon Update forced, I mean released, last week. It occurs at home and work (two different Wi-Fi and/or routers).

Having been a Verizon customer through a few phones and a lot of years, I'm confident that it's related to the update. Fortunately, my phone performs no different. I was just curious if I was the only one seeing this message. Obviously not. (Competition is getting fierce out there and  options improving).

I just googled this issue and Verizon is not the only carrier it is happening with.  results for both Sprint and T-Mobile, so it appears it is a Samsung problem with the Note 3. 

This is a very frustrating issue, and it is NOT a router problem.  I have Autoswitch turned off but it still does it.

I am not sure why the problem affects some of the Note 3 devices. I had this problem a lot when the phone launched, but the last update has fixed it for me. I have only see it once, and that was when my internet provider had an outage.

I tried something yesterday that seems to have made a difference.

I turned OFF the "Passport" in Advanced settings under WiFi.

Have not seen the issue since.

I have the same WIFI internet instability problem on Verizon Note 3. (My battery life is fine.) 

All the cookbook schemes, including un-checking boxes plus a new router, do not work. After about 20 hours of effort over a week, I found that the only thing that worked for me is turning of the Bluetooth. (I'll turn it on again in the car.)

This seems to be the same kind of problem that is hitting the Samsung S3's and S4's. The web is full of these stories. The common denominator seems to be a recent Android 4.3 update.

Last week I wrote a letter to the president/CEO of Samsung and registered an official complaint with the FCC.

I am having wifi issue for both a Note 3 and Galaxy S4 purchased on Saturday 01/18/14. The Note 3 is my device so here are my notes:

- Phone is not rooted

- All software updates have been installed

- Bluetooth is not enabled (and never has been)

- Passpoint has been both on AND off and I received the errors in both cases

- My wifi is "always on during sleep"

- "Network switch" has been both on and off and I have dropped wifi in both cases. I had to turn it off because I don't want to waste my no-longer-unlimited data

I received the "unstable" notification only once, but for each wifi connection I set up (home one, then work one). The rest of the time my wifi simply drops and picks up... all. the. time. I have a strong signal and other devices have no problem with connection.

After many conversations with Verizon and Samsung on this issue, I have been assured many times by Samsung that this is an issue with the latest update that Verizon and Google caused and not any fault on Samsung's part.  Not taking any sides, just stating what has been told to me by several tech reps at Samsung and one t2 tech at Verizon.  I too, am having this issue on an S4 and Note3 but not my galaxy tablet (WiFi only)

It seems to be related to "if your WiFi don't meet x, y, z, specs, then we will switch over to the mobile connection and if the mobile connection isn't there or isn't up to x, y, z, standards, we will give you this message and nothing works after that"

Taking my devices as well as a customer of mine's devices to best-buy where there is supposed to be a Samsung boot there with the reps that have the proper tools to do a full re flash on the ROM (same service as sending it into Samsung for a re flash)

I will update once this is done, assuming an update don't get pushed out in that time that fixes the issue.

I have now identified the troublesome software release.

It happened on 12/14/13 at 7:18 AM when my software was updated from SM-900V_MJ7 to MJE
