s24+ MMS messages not sending or taking forever to send

MMS Messages on my s24+ either wont send or take forever to send.  My wife and I have been having this issue for a few months.  Every few MMS messages will result in the message either not being sent or take forever (40-80 minutes) to send.  The errors happen randomly (some from just a simple text, some from a photo, some from a gif, etc).    This has been happening for several months.  It started when we both had Samsung S22's.  We now both have S24+'s and we still are having the issue.  I even tried factory resetting my phone in case there might be a software issue on my end.  We have tried using several different messaging apps.   With just data and/or wifi.  I have tried everything.  I have spent upwards of 5+hours with technical support but even Verizon's Tier 2 tech support people are having trouble figuring out what is going on.  We are unable to contribute to group conversations because our phones wont send the MMS message!! Someone please help

Hello! Verizon strives to keep you in touch with your family and friends. Being able to text and receive text messages is crucial and we'd love to find the root cause of the issue. To better assist, I'll be sending a Private Message, please reply to it, so we can get started.

So I have actually noticed some similar issues on other carriers as well in my experience on the Google Messages app. I know Google is working on some MMS fixes to the app and RCS improvements, perhaps this may be linked? I am a beta tester in the Google Messages community and have reported this and similar problems to Google.

Thanks for reporting that, hopefully someone can find a fix.  Unfortunately my issue is happening with multiple messaging apps (Samsung and Google).  I have even tried disabling the other thinking that there might be some overlap/interference.   If you find out anything else please let me know.

Has anyone found a resolution for this issue yet?  I have been dealing with the same issue for almost a year now.  And I also worked for hours with Verizon technical support and they were not able to resolve my issue, either.

We know how important it is to be able to use all functions of our devices and services. What messaging platform are you experiencing this issue with?

We are more than happy to help you troubleshoot. Does this happen with all messages or just group or picture messages?

It happens with Group messages only.  I upgraded my phone to Galaxy S25+ in the hopes of resolving the issue.  And that did not resolve the issue, either.  I had developer options enabled, so I disabled them in the hopes that may be the issue.  And that worked for a bit, but this issue started occurring again yesterday.

Could it be because Samsung did not include the latest software update on the S25?  Last I'd read, even the S25 series has the December 2024 version of software and it's on Samsung to get a update out.

Thanks, that is always a possibility.  However, it was an issue for the entire year I had the S24 also, and others do not have the issue.  So I think it is probably unlikely.  The S25 has the newer version of Android 15 also, although as you mentioned it hasn't been patched yet (Security patch level 12/1/2024).  But I'm not counting on a new patch for S25 fixing the issue.

Have you tried toggling RCS on or off to see if that helps?  If some of the people you text have older phones and/or cannot update their software to where it supports RCS format, then using RCS format causes problems.  You haven't ever had an iPhone in the past, have you?  Because if you did, you need to deregister your number from iMessage.
