unable to update to 4.04, phone shuts off, turns on see google and I've let it sit for 10 hours.

this is a stock phone. I have a few apps and a number of photos, but that's it. any ideas on how to get the upgrade to work?

Someone mentioned doing a hard reset, you can give that a try.  I haven't tried that yet.  Not sure if hard factory reset will wipe out all my apps, photos, contacts, etc.

A factory reset on the Galaxy Nexus will wipe out everything.
