I'v only had this phone for about two weeks and i have never owned an android phone. how do you change your notification tones to your dowloaded ringtones (that by the way verizion does not sell at a cheap price). what are some.....hate to use this word..... noob pointers on how to keep the phone cleaned, cause i'm pretty sure it's like a handheld laptop right? just any advice would be greatly appreciated.

To change notification tones, goto SETTINGS | SOUND & DISPLAY and you can change the default ringtone for phone calls and text messages, and you can go into your email (or gmail) app to change the ringtone there. If your contacts are phone contacts (There is an orange icon next to them) you can set a certain ringtone to that contact. If you have a black or any other color icon next to them, you cannot, you would have to export them to the SD card, and then import them as phone contacts to be able to set contact ringtones. As far as ringtones are concerned, if you have MP3's that you like, there are apps (Ringdroid for 1) that will let you take parts of a song and save it as a ringtone.
As far as the phone being like a computer, you are correct and incorrect at the same time. It has similar features and functions, but it works differently. For instance, on a PC, you would close programs that are not needed to free up memory. On these phones, the OS is written to free up memory whenever it needs it. There are posts here that talk about Task Killers, and that you should use them, (I used it for a while), but you don't. I got rid of mine, and I have not noticed any difference in response. I use the built in Task Manager just to make sure things are closed properly, but nothing else.
Not sure if you will use any kind of screen protector, but it has the Corning Gorilla Glass on it, which helps prevent scratches and such, but will not prevent everything. If you are worried about scratches, make sure you get a full screen protector, there are some on Amazon that are good.
Other than that, for apps, there are posts here that you should look at, people will post their favorite apps.

actually, on fascinates, the sound player lets you set as ringtone no problem. play the mp3 with sound player, go into the menu, set as, then ringtone.

If you want to whole song as the ringtone, you can do it that way. If you only want a portion of it, then you have to use an app.
I just edit the file on my computer using free software, then apply with sound player.
