Contracts are not being offered on any phone. All carriers require customers pay retail price.
i was on contract last 3 months for 2 yrs. i dont get it. are you saying no contract and we pay month to month WITHOUT TERMINATION FEE. last i remembered i had to pay etf to end contract. so you say all has to pay near 900 for note 7.
As far as I know, you want to leave, all is required is for you to pay off your phone

This would certainly depend on your plan. Verizon did away with "service" contracts when they introduced the Verizon Plan. For those on the Verizon Plan, your only options are to pay full retail price up front or over time. Of course, the line access fee for those purchases are only $20/month vs $40/month which gives you a $480 discount on the price of the phone over the 2 yr payoff period.
If you are on a legacy More Everything Plan, you still have the option to purchase a phone on a "service" contract with an ~$450 discount on the price of the phone and your line access fee being $40 for the duration of your "service" contract. Your other options would be to purchase the phone at full retail up front or over time with the line access fee dropping to either $15/month or $25/month giving you a discount of either $600 or $360 off the price of your phone.
Don't fool yourself, even those who purchase the Note 7 on contract are STILL paying ~$900 for the phone. For example, I am currently still on the More Everything Plan with the option of paying for the device by signing a "service" contract. My CURRENT line access fee is $15/month for being out of contract. If I were to purchase that device at the "discounted" rate by signing a "service" contract, my line access fee would jump to $40/month or an increase of $600 over the 2 yr life of the contract. When you add the $299 contract price to that $600 increase in line access fee over 2 yrs of the service contract, I would be paying $899 for the phone. If I pay for the phone at full retail over time, that same phone only cost me $864 which is LESS than what I would pay in total over the life of that "service" contract. I certainly prefer the method which cost me less over those 2 yrs.
Of course you ALSO have that $40 activation fee for "service" contract purchases which you do not have with the DPP.
In addition to what has already been provided, customers who are a prepaid customer only have the option to purchase a new phone at the full retail price no matter which prepaid plan they have.

clear as a bell 2 year contracts, are we all on same planet.
The 2 year contract options from Best Buy depend on what plan you have. Not all plans are eligible for contract upgrades.
