Any way to block spam texts like blocking a ph #?

Is there some way to block incoming texts addresses? Am I missing something? When I press on the text address, I'm not seeing a "Block" option, just the ability to Delete it.

Hello katyabg,

We have a great option for blocking text messages. You can log on to My Verizon http://bit.ly/xB4iTc and block up to 5 numbers from calling & texting you for free. You can also block up to 20 email addresses, or select to block all web-based messages. This can help you manage your incoming texts, and ensure you are not receiving unwanted messages.

Thank you,

Try the app called "Blacklist" in the Google Play Store.

There are a lot of phone/message blockers like the one above by SamZTB. Mr Number is probably one of the most popular. I personally use Call Blocker. You can set up White and Black lists and I just have it block all calls and texts not in my contacts list. The only thing I didn't like is that it nags you to buy it when you start or stop it. It was worth buying it to me though. Just do a search for call blockers. Many also include  a caller ID.

There are a lot, so good searching.

What does your bill say they are? Your bill will list descriptions of the charges. We can only guess.

Of those guesses, I would say a portion would be your activation fee. I believe Verizon charges $35 for an activation fee which normally shows up on your first bill. Another guess would be a pro-rated charge for your first billing cycle.

Your billing date rarely coincides with the date you initiate service. As a result, on your first bill, you would be charged for a full month of service AND the partial month from when you initiated service until your billing date. Your next month's bill would then be only for 1 month of service.Smiley Happy

activation fee $35.00  surcharges 45.07 (charges the Government  charges verizon for this and that) plus one month advance etc.... Why I got to pay them for what the government charges them?  I already am paying Verizon for their service for internet and phone???? Thanks Linda

As RC stated the amount is higher on your first bill.

The $35 is a one time charge, and the other amount will drop down based on your plan cost.

You do not have to worry after your first invoice. It will be stable amounts each month. +/- a few cents.

Good Luck

lindade We want to WOW you with our service not the cost of your bill. We can certainly answer your billing questions. There will be surcharges every month. However, it's usually not $45 per line for surcharges alone. As explained above, the surcharges for a first bill includes an activation fee. Please send us a private message and we can review this also. to send a private message, follow us and then we will be able to follow back, then we can take it from there.

Additionally why did you hyjack another customers question to interject your own issue?

Would have been better to post your own question.

You had an activation charge and a pro rata charge on your first bill. On the next one it should stabilize. What ever you were told it would cost each month add 18% taxes and surcharges to the amount. The bill will also rise if you go over your data allotment $10-$15 per GB.

Good Luck

I did not hi jack another customers question and I do not seem to be confused.

I was simply saying I was having problems also.

What I was told in the store is NOT what I was charged on my bill, that is all I was saying.

I had $45.07 surcharge for Internet Jetpack (charges that the government charges verizon) and $45.00 surcharge for the phone, (what the government charges Verizon).  I was asking why I have to pay what the government charges Verizon for whatever it is that Verizon has to pay them?  That is what I was saying.

Activation fees were never told to me at any time until I got my bill and the activation fees (all of them) are not included in the surcharge fees!!  So when I got my bill it was way out of wack and not what I expected nor told how high this would be.

Thank You for your time.

The thread is titled: " Any Way to block spam texts like a ph#?"

Your question has nothing to do with spam texts. That is hyjacking a thread.

Again the first bill is going to be higher, Verizon should have told you that. However they did not.

Taxes and fees are paid by all customers. You don't get to say you don't want to pay them.

Its like those cheap sunglasses sold on TV, they are $10 and shipping & handling charges come to $16 or more so you are paying more for shipping & handling & taxes than the price of the product. Get a second pair for free just payIng that $16 shipping & handling charges ( free remember) so $42 for a $10 pair of cheap sunglasses you can buy Foster Grants for $15 which are much better quality.

Your invoice will as I said stabilize after the first invoice.

Good Luck

lindade,

I understand unexpected charges on a bill are never fun. Lets take a deeper dive into these charges. Are you stating the $45.07 (jetpack) and $45.00 (cellphone) surcharges included activation fees that you were not aware of?

We want to make it easy to understand your first bill lindade! Where are these charges listed under? Have you had the opportunity to view the complete statement(print view)? This version of the statement will provide a more detailed breakdown of each charge. Some of the charges on a first bill could be an activation fee. In addition, there are taxes and surcharges billed on every statement. Here is a link to assist you.
