Is it possible to check voicemail when data is turned off and only connected to wifi? I get voicemail icons saying that I have a message, but I can only check it if I am connected to data (a problem when traveling overseas).

I know that I wouldn't want to miss any important messages, dpn. I can definitely understand the complications of checking your voicemail while traveling overseas. To answer your question, a cellular data connection is required for Visual Voicemail to work.
To help put your mind at ease, you can check your voicemail while overseas by dialing your mobile number, and pressing # to interrupt your greeting, then follow the prompts.
