Data Charges....

I just got my bill today.  It has a $1.99 MB charge.  What's this about?  I called customer service and they said "yep you've been charged" but couldn't tell me where.  Then she said"With your type of phone it's easy to occur MB charges"  I have never had this happen before.  I DO NOT get on the internet from my phone.  They offered to block it but I didn't because I want to have internet in case I ever HAVE to use it.  I sometimes text status updates and pics to my facebook and I have been for a long time but those are just regular text messages.

I talked to a rep today and he said that even though the Select plan includes unlimited messaging, there are still data charges for pix/flix/im.  Deceptive advertising at its best!  I am not a Verizon customer yet, and probably won't become one if they can't be honest with their customers.  I can't find anything on the website that says data charges apply to pic/flix/im on the Select plan.

The hidden megabyte usage is a pathetic attempt to get more money. It works if you pay it. Tell them you want to know exactly where you are getting these charges. If they can't tell you then you can't pay for something you didn't use.

I have the same problem...

And it has happened with two different phones since I switched from America's Choice to Nationwide Select...

Somewhere on this site I saw where you could simply email your phone a picture by sending the picture as an attachment to "yournumber@vzwpix.com" ....and ever since I've tried that, I've had mysterious data charges on my bill...I'm not sure if that is it or not, because both timesit happened with a new phone and I was messing around and would sometimes accidentally access the Mobile Web menu or something that I was told cost money to use....so I don't know which it was...and if you call, the customer service rep always says "yea, that could be it.....that could be it"

It seems like it should be easy to tell where the charges came from, and verizon refusing to do so is just annoying

If you hit the mobile web button it automatically charges you $1.99.

Dale,

I had the exact same charge.  I called and they told me it was when I previewed the music.  Even tho it says Preview you get charged for previewing.  That was 4 months ago.  It was only a charge of 4.92 all together but it is still on my account.

I just switched from America's choice to Nationwide Select.  The bill in question is the first with this plan.  I've also been keeping an eye on my account every few days because I haven't previewed or purchased any music or ringtones.  I do not have any MB charges right now.  I've been very careful not to hit mobile web or the music button.  I called customer service a second time the lady told me that facebook status updates should not occur MB Charges as long as you use text messages.
