Unless the user sets the device up to auto update, The applications for Android, Apple or Windows device don't always update application automatically.

IVE owned win10 and other OS for 26 years, and it's my experience that recently, win10 and my device updated the app, both on each devices.seitz

Are you looking for the PC or the mobile version? If it is already installed on your device, you can go to the Windows App Store and see if there is an update. Although I can't figure out how to tell when a Windows application was last updated.

I'm looking for update notifications for both the Windows PC versions:

1) Windows Vista, Windows 7 and Windows 8.1 users– install the app (Version 1.0.17.0)  from the link below.

Use the 'Download Desktop App' button on the Verizon Wireless website.

Thanks.  Let me try to clarify:  I am looking for update notifications for both of the Windows PC versions of the software:

Version A  Modern (Metro) Windows 10 app for PC

Version B: Traditional Windows Desktop program for PC,  Recommended for Windows 8.1 and earlier. 

For Version A (Modern Windows 10 app for PC): my understanding is that the Windows Store will automatically install updates (assuming I have configured the Windows Store to automatically install updates, which I have).  Is there a way for me to be  notified when a new release has been installed, and what changes it contains?

For Version B (Traditional Window Desktop program for PC):  I still don't see how I can be notified when a new release is available

Seitz, you have gotten awesome and accurate information from our community here. I'm glad to give some confirmation. With the Verizon Message + application for Windows PC there is no current way of receiving an automatic update. If your PC is connected to the Windows store then it may let you know when the update is available. Otherwise, you would just have to check. Here's a helpful link > http://vz.to/29yOpS1

please call vzw support on phone and get back with their response. or simply go to windows store in your current operating system on pc and search for message plus. you will see if its installed or has update.

I will have to post the screenshot later, but it appears that link is for the PC version of the application. It won't work on Win10 phones unless the phone I tested it on isn't one of the "approved" devices per the developer. Although it should be since it did get the official Win10 update.

That would be between a phone and a PC. The OP might be asking for the Windows Phone version of the application and not the PC one. Which according to my test phone, the Verizon Messages application isn't available for Win10 phones.

Until the OP returns and clarifies which application, no one knows which version they are looking for.
