Issues with Verizon Message App on Andriod Wear Oreo

I have the LG Watch Sport Smartwatch (model W280A). I'm using it on the Verizon Network.  I recently updated to Android Wear 2.9 / Oreo (build # OWR1.170919.018).  After upgrading to Oreo, the Verizon Message Plus App was no longer Visible on my watch, so I lost the ability to send and receive texts and the ability to connect to LTE...I want to know if Verizon will be making any future adjustments to either their Message App or Andriod Wear Oreo, so that the Verizon Message Plus App will work on the Oreo software?!?..

I got tired of waiting around for either Verizon or Google to do anything about this problem.  So I started doing research on my own, and began looking into this new Messaging & Calling App called Pulse (developed by Luke Klinker). It can be downloaded from the Google Play Store.  This App works similar to the Verizon Message + App.  It's a messaging app which allows shared messaging between all portable devices. It also allows you to make phone calls through the app.  Another great feature of this app, is that it interfaces with the Verizon Message App and allows users to use their original phone number for texting & calling.  This app can be used in conjunction with the Verizon App, without it being set as the default messaging app.  And it's one of the few messaging apps, that's actually VISIBLE on any LG Watch Sport running on Andriod Wear Oreo...Just download this app on your phone and smartwatch

While this app does offer calling features, the calling features only seem to work from the cell phone, it doesn't seem allow cellular calling from the smartwatch.  This app works only in Bluetooth Mode while your watch is connected to your phone, and this app must be left open and running on your phone, in order to receive texts on your watch. Use of this App is free for the 1st. 7 days, then there's 99 cents monthly charge..

I've been using this app for the past few days, with no issues.  While this app isn't a permanent fix; it at least allows Verizon users on Android Wear Oreo, to receive and respond to text messages from their watch..

Taking some action now..Is a lot better than waiting around for a solution from Verizon or Google; which MAY never happen...

It is important that you have the latest updates for your watch, JOG0227. When the update is ready to be released, it should appear on your watch automatically, but until then, please keep an eye on our website and LG's website for any announcements.

I pay extra money every month, to have an extra phone line added to my plan so that I can use the cellular service on my smartwatch.  If you guys don't fix this issue soon, then I (and everyone else that uses the Message Plus App on Andriod Oreo) will be forced to cancel the extra phone line; resulting in Verizon losing out on the addition revenue....So hopefully you guys can get this fixed soon.

JOGO277, I want you to be able to use the app on your Watch. Let's look into this. Are you able to see other apps on the watch? Have you tried powering off/on the watch? If so, does it attempt to reconnect to the network?

I've already tried everything you've mentioned.  I've turned off/on my watch,  I've factory reset my watch and tried to re-install the message plus app, but none of those options worked.  All my other Apps are visible on my watch except for the Verizon Message Plus App...And this is because there's conflict of software between your Message Plus App and Android Wear Oreo.  Verizon, is already aware of this problem; as they indicated in their original response...I'm just very frustrated due to the slow response from both Verizon and Google on correcting this issue.

Jogo277 is 100% correct, how are we the only ones bringing up this issue. The verizon messages+ app is not compatible now with wearables.  you used to be able to see the app on the listing with the other apps. Now you cant i updated yesterday.

Does your IT and development team not test before upgrades are rolled out? Seriously, Didnt someone update to oreo and send a message over and wow it didnt work? This is so elementary. I want a phone call about this and an date of resolution. Do not write did i turn it off just save yourself the time

Well, I now have Verizon Messages and Hangouts working as they did before, with notifications.

I have written out the steps below. I don't 100% know if they are in order or they even need to be in an order. But, it took a lot of playing around, and I got them both to show me text notifications as they did before.

Download Verizon Messages Mirror Version 6.6.7
Download Hangouts Mirror Version: 26.0.20
Uninstall Apps From Phone
Uninstall Apps From Watch
Restart Watch
Install App (One at A Time) On Watch Via Sideloading
Disconnect Watch From ADB
Install Old (Mirrors) Versions On Phone
Go Into Play Store On Watch & Install Apps From Phone (One at A Time)

Well.. fwiw I found a copy at

https://www.apkmirror.com/apk/verizon-vz/verizon-messages/verizon-messages-6-6-7-release/verizon-mes...

And gave this a try. The instructions did not quite work the way they were described but did get it to install. I was able to start the app on my watch, it got as far as setting the permissions - and then gave me a blank face on the watch and the app closed. I retried with the oldest version out there - 6.33 - it also failed.

As of know I am using the Informer android app which works well.

I had an issue similar to others on this thread.  Just upgraded my LG G5 to the LG G7 Thinq, and had to reset my watch to connect it to the new phone.  Once the watch and phone were paired, no more M+ app on the watch, and not available for download from the Wear Play Store.

I did what was suggested earlier and it worked for me.  LG G7 Thinq and Huawei watch (1st Gen).  I uninstalled the M+ app from my phone, then sideloaded the version found here:  https://www.apkmirror.com/apk/verizon-vz/verizon-messages/verizon-messages-6-3-3-release/verizon-mes...

Once it installed on the phone,  I saw it available in the Play Store on my watch.  I did the install on the watch, and then updated the M+ version on the phone to the latest version from the Play Store.  All is working fine now.  I'm able to set up and push wearable quick replies from the app to the watch, no missing messages, and the watch notifications are working as expected.

Kind of a garbage for an app that should work out of the box, but thanks to the instructions I found here, I am back in business.

Interesting. I was able to follow the instructions and install the app on my watch, it did "try" to start, got as far as asking me to confirm settings and then it just closed. Now when I try to open the app the watch goes blank and then back to the main screen. Maybe it's because the watch is a few years old. LG Urbane.

Looks like the phone app is will now send notifications to the watch again as of 6.8.5! Still can't install the watch app though.

Well... I could only find Pulse Messenger - which only works as a replacement for Message+ (as far as I can tell). I also tried the suggestion from jdhatpha to uninstall the updates for M+ on my phone... but this also did not work because in my instance the base M+ on my phone is already too high a version to allow install to the watch.

What does seem to be working for me is an app called Informer Wear by Komparato. I had to pay for the premium version (5 bucks!) to allow me to add M+ as an app it listens for.

I also tried Messages for Wear by Appfour. This worked for individual messages but it does not recognize group texts. I reported that as an issue to them.

Did the Messages for Wear by AppFour app allow you to view texts and get text alerts from Verizon Messages? So far, I have been able to sideload the app onto my watch (using ADB instructions I found online). I've gotten Verizon Messages onto my watch, but when I open it, the screen just goes white and never actually opens the app. Then, it just reverts back to my watch face. I'm thinking that I have to change the app version to something older, like from June 2017 and load that to my watch. (If that doesn't work, maybe I would have to download an older version on my phone - which I'm not sure how to do, yet.) What do you all think about this?

Does Informer Wear show you actual texts from Verizon Messages on your watch?

(I am using an LG Watch Urbane.)

I also have an Urbane (and a Note 8). Yes, messages for wear did get texts to my Urbane - for single party texts. No group text messages went to my watch. I loaded that app on my phone and watch from the store and it worked fine - for individual texts only.

This paid version of Informer Wear looks to be working for all texts - group or individual. The texts go to my phone via Message+ and then end up on my watch as an Informer notice. It also has an option to reply from the watch - I think maybe that's NOT working, but I dont care. I just want to read the text. If I want to reply I will use my phone.
