Message+ is deleting my group messages randomly

Every once in awhile my group conversation with two of my friends will disappear. Gone. Deleted. Not by me. So frustrating. If I do a restore from cloud backup and/or integrated messaging it doesn't come back. What the heck is going on? This has been happening randomly for over a month. I've tried wiping out all of my texts. Disabling cloud backup, and disabling integrated messaging. IT STILL KEEPS HAPPENING?!?!?!? And no I do not have the setting turned on to automatically delete after a certain message limit. And it doesn't appear to be happening to any other texts, just the group conversation with the same two people. One is on a Samsung on T-Mobile and the other is on an iPhone on Verizon. I'm at a loss. Please help.

Having access to all of your messages is a must. I welcome the opportunity to assist. I just need a few additional details. What's the make and model of your device? How much internal storage space do you have available in the memory? Also, when in the Conversations view (not the actual thread), do you get the option to Save Messages when pressing and holding down on that conversation?

Hi,

The conversation disappeared again today. I just created a new one with the

same two people. Yes the Save Messages option is there when I click and

hold. I clicked Restore Messages and nothing came back.

I have a Moto Z Force Droid with 32 GB of storage (21.24 GB in use so 10.76

Please open your Message+ application > Tap the Menu (Three lines top left corner) > Settings > Advanced (under Advanced Settings)> Delete Old Messages. Do you have a conversation message limit? No as I said in my original post I do not have it set to delete messages.

It will delete this particular conversation after a couple days even if

there are only a few messages in the conversation. No other conversations

are getting deleted that I can tell, even ones with more messages. Thanks!

I'm disappointed to hear that the issue came back after clearing the cache and data as well as uninstalling updates, MAMABREEN. After doing this did you install the app updates right away or were you able to test without the app updates by chance? You mentioned this has been happening for about a month. Do you recall any changes that happened just before this issue started? Are you seeing any kind of pattern as to when the group message disappears?

I did the update right away. I just did a factory reset on my phone but I

think it will still happen. Nothing else changed as far as I know. No

pattern that I can see. It's now deleting the conversation with 9 people

instead of the one with 3.

I take that back. I just noticed another group conversation had

disappeared. That one had 9 people in it and had less than 10 messages. I

received a text from the group this morning so it started fresh. Restoring

from integrated messaging did not bring anything back. So bizarre.

there is no longer "advanced" options under settings in message+. How do i make a setting for it to delete old messages? My last phone I had it set up that way but my new phone I can't find it.

I am having the same issue as described.  Random deletion of group messages on my Moto Force.  I switched from Message+ to the native Moto message app and the problem disappeared - it is clearly an issue with Message+.

I also have been having trouble with my group messages. I have checked all my settings. Delete old messages is shut off. There is no size limit set and it is set to automatically retrieve mms messages. I can't save or restore them from the Cloud. I have a Motorola Z2 Force, and it is only a few months old. It never did this until 2 updates ago. Somewhere around there. All my one-on-one messages store the conversation forever, but my group texts disappear once or twice a week. I go into the group to chat, and there are only two or 3 messages in there. The rest are gone! Sometimes, the whole group disappears and I have to ask a friend to send me a message to get it back. This group is about work and I am missing out on a lot of important info. My build number is ODX27.109-34 and I currently have Android 8.0.0. Again, it is a Motorola Z2 Force.

All I do is message. If my text messaging didn’t work, I may as well have no phone. I understand how important this is to you especially since you are using this for work. I’ll be more than happy to assist you. Please follow these steps and keep us posted as to the outcome.

1. Perform a Factory Data Reset on the device without restoring any apps, content or inserting any SD Cards into the device.
2. Skip Cloud setup during setup wizard. (Do not enable Verizon Cloud)
3. Ensure all pre-installed apps are fully updated.
4. Do not restore SMS in the Message+ App.
5. Re-test with new MMS threads.

 

 

Before you complete the factory data reset, you will want to back up your phone first to make sure all of your data is saved and can be restored. Click here for information on the Verizon Cloud backup service http://vz.to/2qUrfgO.

I have the same problem. Message+, 2 other parties in the group message. Both VZW phones. I have a Motorola Turbo 2. I'm messaging one Motorola Turbo, one Samsung S8+. It does not delete from the other parties handsets.

We don't like to hear when any of our customers are having text messaging issues Ron16066. Let's work on getting this issue fixed.  Have you removed the messaging + app and reinstalled it or reset the application? Is the software on your device up to date? How long have you had issues?

You can't uninstall it because it's a stock app (unless you root the

phone). You can only disable or uninstall updates. I just uninstalled the

updates and cleared the cache and data and will see if that makes a

difference.

I just uninstalled the updates and updated it again. Sent a test message and setting if it helps. Handset software is up to date, and it happened for the first time I noticed about 3 weeks ago.
