Text Online very difficult to use

Anyone having problems using Text Online? I login and get my text messages, but most of the time, as soon as I click on some message thread the web page will go into an almost never-ending refresh loop before stopping long enough to display the message conversation. I have tried several browsers, and different machines. Worse, I can start typing a reply to someone, and I will seldom get to finish it, or if I do finish it, it seldom actually sends, because the web page goes through another refresh loop. This feature needs to be seriously revisited and fixed and revised by Verizon. I miss the old Desktop application because at least it worked. I thought a web page would be almost as good, and easier for Verizon to provide and maintain, but I am not sure it is even worth trying to use sometimes.

byroniac Are you referring to Verizon Message+? If so, are you able to use it on your cell phone? Do you have the same problem? DoloresK_VZW

No, it is the "Text Online" functionality at www dot verizonwireless dot com, when used on my Windows 10 PC.

byronia, thanks for those details. Is the Verizon Message up to date with the latest version?

Well, this has nothing to do with Verizon Messages or any other phone app. It is a problem with the "Text Online" portal on the website when I access it using a browser on my desktop PC, i.e. this is the link from the Verizon website menu: https://web.vma.vzw.com/vma/web2/Message.do . I suppose not many people must use this, or perhaps there would be more complaints. Sometimes it works fairly well and other times, not at all. I did not know where to post a complaint and/or request for help, so I chose this as being the closest I could find.

Thank you for the clarification. It appears you are referring to the text online service via My Verizon. (see link below) This service does not guarantee delivery to non-Verizon phone numbers. May I ask, are you experiencing this issue with numbers outside our network? Do you have any pending updates on the PC that you are using?

Thank you for that information. Most of the numbers I use I am certain are on the same Verizon network. My problem is really with the web site functionality itself. The page constantly refreshing, often in the middle of trying to type a message, is very disruptive. Something is particularly strange with JavaScript behavior on this page, is my guess. I also keep all of my computers up to date, and I check my phone for updates frequently (though not every day). So I do not think it is a network issue as much as it is a web app functionality issue, the best I can tell.

Thanks for confirming, byroniac. Please download the Verizon Messages (Messages+) app on your desktop and retest: http://spr.ly/660910Tv3. Please keep us posted.

@vzw_customer_support , @tracyb_vzw Funny, following your link the instructions there, searching the Windows Store for Message+ DOESN'T find a Verizon Messaging app! Why am I not surprised?

It looks like to me that the Windows 10 Store app Messages+ by Verizon is no longer available (removed or unlisted). I know I have it listed in My Library of previously used apps, but right now it is taking forever to refresh.
Anyways, I think I may have stumbled onto the problem, and want to apologize for being frustrated. I *think* the problem is being caused by my LastPass browser extension which I use in all browsers. I tried turning it off and it works much better. However, then I tried turning it on and realized I had also enabled the "Allow access to file urls" or something similar in the extension options, which is not enabled by default, and I disabled that. There are a few occasional hiccups/refreshes now, but on the whole the Text Online feature is working much better. So the problem is probably on my end. I will keep testing that.

Good job 'stumbling' on your possible resolution. If you think the issue is resolved you might mark your post ANSWERED so we don't get any more incorrect info. It's unfortunate that the Verizon agents got confused/off topic on the Message+ track.

No, the problem has not been resolved. It just started happening again. No idea why. At first, I thought it was for the longer conversations that require several page refreshes to load or something. But some conversations I clicked on were very short and still went through many page refreshes before displaying anything. So the next thing I have tried is right-clicking the extension and where it says, "This can read and change site data" with three options available and changed it to "When you click the extension". But it did not help matters. No other extensions are enabled. So the issue is not resolved, but sometimes it is very slight and at other times, it is an almost constant problem.

Thanks, just to clarify, when did this originally become an issue? Did your pc go through an update recently? How long was it working well for you just recently?

Well, this happens on more than one PC (at home and at work). I think it has been this way for a year or more, but I just now complained about it. I think it worked reasonably well a year or more ago.

For some reason, most of yesterday and so far all of today it is working fine. Go figure. I am happy, but mystified.

It's clearly a verizon server-side issue. Their online texting feels like it's on its last leg, and they still don't have a Windows 10 compatible app version so we are stuck with the web-based version, which they haven't updated in years.
Super fudging frustrating to say the least. Then one of their Bots comes on here asking useless, distracting questions, and no answers are ever given.

You're NOT stuck with the web-based version. You can look at a previous post with a link to the v1.0.17.0 .exe file download.

Having this problem as well. It is beyond frustrating- I have had verizon for 20 years, and need to be able to use the online text service during this time. No matter what platform or machine I use, it gets stuck in never-ending refresh loop. Over and over.
This is clearly a Verizon issue as I have used 4 different machines and 3 browsers and had the exact same issue repetitively. Please fix this ASAP.

The Verizon Messaging Team can be reached by email to verizonmessages at verizonwireless dot com. I just sent an email asking for an update. If they get enough emails, maybe we'll see some results quicker.

Well, to give an update so far. Still having the problem off and on (mostly on), sometimes worse, sometimes better. I am trying a few other things, such as digging deep into my Google Chrome settings and turning off options like "Preload pages for faster browsing and searching" and anything else like that I can find. Too early to tell if this is helping.
HOWEVER, one possible workaround for me on Windows 10 at least, is using Microsoft's My Phone app and bluetooth pairing it (as well as connecting using my Microsoft email account) and using the text messages feature that way. Works much better, FWIW (For What It's Worth). I really do wish Verizon would fix the Text Online feature, first, and second to that, perhaps bring back a Windows 10 Store app or even the old EXE (which I just downloaded from another post in this thread, thank you for that, and I can try that too).
I have been a very loyal Verizon customer for a number of years and they are almost the only game in town, but even I am considering Spectrum for Mobile now, but I would prefer to remain with Verizon.
