I have owned a Moto Z Play Android phone for almost 6 months now. I use the Verizon Message+ app for texting. Within the last month approximately most of the pictures that are texted to me will disappear within the day. Not all do but the majority will. If I save them to my photo app they will stay there of course but if I do not save them soon after receiving them they magically disappear.
We know it's very important to save those memories, Redram1952. There are many pictures I know I would hate to lose. You may have a setting that's causing these messages to delete. If you go into Messages and then Settings and then Advanced Settings, you should see an option that says "Delete old messages". Is that checked? If so, What is the conversation message limit at?

Making sure your pictures are not magically deleted is the goal. I am sorry to learn this has happened. Can you please go into your Verizon Message app>Settings>Advanced>Delete old messages and make sure it is disabled. Please test this out and let me know if that works.

Hello to Eric and Carmen and thanks for the replies. I did as you requested and my delete old message box was not checked. I keep my message threads cleaned out on a regular basis. I will mention however that the message that is sent with the picture will not disappear,only the picture.

Redram1952, we want to make sure we get you your photos. We want to make sure you are on the most recent version. Please go to Play Store/Menu/My apps & games/Updates. Make sure you are on the current software.
Then please go to the menu of your application and about and provide me the software version.

Hey Robin. I did as you requested and went to the app store and there were no updates available. I currently have Message+ : 6.4.212 My son just texted me a picture just yesterday and it has already disappeared from my text. The message however is still there. I did save the pic to my gallery. Most pics disappear. Not all do. I have one thread from last November that still has pictures. Let me know if you need any more info.

I hold a lot of importance in the pictures that are sent to me as well. Let's gather some additional information, so we can make sure we're on the same page.
Do you notice any pattern with this? For example, if the picture is sent alone, is this still happening? Or, do you notice that it's only pictures that have text included? In addition, do you notice if this is happening with certain contacts?

I'm having the same exact problem and have heard of a lot of people having this problem. I don't have time to save some of the pics that come in all the time. Therefore it results in lost pics. This needs to be resolved...I'm tired of this happening. I've also had messages to disappear from group messages....
We want this resolved for you. Is this happening to all conversations? Have you tried uninstalling and reinstalling the application? Before doing this, please make sure to back up your device to avoid losing any information. Also, what kind of phone do you have? How much free storage is there left?

Hi Erin. I went to my settings as requested to see if the delete old messages box was checked and it was not checked so I left it the way it had been set unchecked so the system is not deleting old messages for me. For whatever reason random pictures will disappear from a message that was sent to me that included a picture. The message always remains so only the picture is gone. So I made no changes in my settings and yes pictures will still disappear.

I hope there is an answer! I was looking for a photo I received last week, and its gone. But it's only happening to one particular person (the other person my account). From my sister, I have pictures and videos going way back of my niece.

I too hope there is an answer for this. It is so frustrating to go back to view the picture and it is gone. This seems to be a large issue and should be fixed!
My son's Droid Play has the same issue. It happens with received pictures as well as internet links that are shared with him. It happens from various contacts at random times, sometimes goes away a week later and sometimes happens the same day. We are able to know when a message we have sent him has disappeared because we get a failed message indication on the text even though he had already viewed it previously. He is using Verizon Message+ and the messages disappear from contacts using various devices, messaging apps, and carriers. The device is not set to delete old messages. Assistance appreciated. Also note, my wife has used the Verizon Message+ app on a galaxy (6 & 😎 and this has never happened to her, only happens on son's Droid Play.

DAVSTA72 , we don't want this to be an ongoing issue on his device. Did he recently update the software on his phone? Is there a software update available for the Message+ application when he accesses the Google Play Market? If not, please update the software for the device and the Message+ application. Let us know is this resolves the issue on his phone.
