I will switch over to any phone provider who offers this feature first. I have two young boys with phones, I should have the right to protect them.

I believe AT&T will give you a print out of text messages with a small charge. I don't know why they can do this and Verizon can't or won't.

I believe due to privacy concerns, ATT discontinued this service. (ATT has no way to know the texts are from a phone that was actually given to their son)

If they are smartphones you can just download sms backup plus. It's free, and it automatically sends every text to your gmail account. You wouldn't even need to tell them that you did it.
