What's the difference between Verizon Messages and Apple's iMessage and handoff features? How are they the same?

Verizon messages is just a supplement for SMS/MMS. All it does is give you an alternative to save and send texts without having to use your device.

iMessages is Apple proprietary software and it's more akin to AOL messenger. It only works with Apple products.
