My samsung galaxy 5s started sending me the same message yesterday, saying it came from myself! At first i thought i was maxed out on text so i deleted quite a few but nothing new came through. I sent a message to myself from my other phone number and it came through fine so i deleted the "insufficient..." message. Until it came across again today (twice 2 mins apart) so i stopped at my local verizon store they had no idea so no issues with my account gave me the 800 number to call, but they have no idea either. They fear it may be a phishing scam so advised me just to delete if anymore come across while they investigate! You mentione you recently "blocked" a number, so did i! Maybe there is some connection?

It must have something to do with blocking a number bc I've had the same problem shortly after blocking a number myself.

I have the galaxy s6. I disgruntlely had to message the person to see if they could delete the message they had attempted to send and so far it seems to have stopped. I had quite literally received over 100 for two texts that weren't going through. Quite annoying.

I also just blocked a number and two hours later I received my first "Recipient has insufficient funds to receive message" message. That must be the cause of it because it's the only thing that we have in common. I have the Note 5 and never received this message until I blocked the number. The message usually comes thru on the times that the person I blocked normally text me. Maybe it's the phone trying to tell us that the blocked person is trying to text us.

I believe it is from blocking a number. It had eventually stopped for me
tho. But that may have been because they stopped trying to text me

Mine seems to have stopped, i too believe it was because the number i had
recently blocked was trying to text me. Hopefully it is over now

I have been receiving the same text and just blocked a number as well so just to see if that was the reason, I downloaded texting app with a different phone number blocked the number and attempted to txt myself and I instantly received the message Recipient has insufficient funds to receive message.

Being able to communicate with our family and friends is important, and I'm sorry you're having problems
I want to make sure that you get the assistance that you need. The recipient is the person who is receiving the message. Is this affecting all your contacts? When did this begin? Have you made any changes to your phone recently? Share details. We are here to help.

Ibecutest,
It can be a pain to keep receiving these types of messages. We're here to help determine what's going on so that we can find a way to stop them from being sent to you. How(text message, notification n status bar, etc.) is the message arriving to your phone? How often is the message appearing on your phone? When exactly does the message appear? If it shows up after sending a message, does it occur with multiple contacts?

We are all saying the same thing:
Within minutes of blocking a number, we are receiving text from ourselves (labled "me"), up to 50 of them but generally around 5-10 that say "recipient has insufficient funds to receive message"
They are coming in at rapid succession.
What is happening?

My blocked list is full but none of them were blocked recently. All a couple of months ago or whenever they were automatically unblocked (thanks for that btw Verizon) but I just got another one of these messages tonight..its pretty lame we block people for a reason and now we have to wonder which nut job is trying to get through .

Okaythis, thank you for taking the time to get in contact with us. Being able to get the information needed for your blocked numbers is a must. When contacting us for blocking a number, they will remain blocked from your line for 90 days. Once the 90 days are over, you will need to contact us to block them once more. A more effective way to block numbers will be from your device directly if possible on My Verizon or if you have the Verizon Smart Family feature set up. Do you need these contacts blocked once more?
