If you are talking the Message + app, no there is no additional cost.

While there is no cost to use the app and basic SMS/MMS fall under your texting plan, there are some instances when you will be using data.  The details and link are below for clarification.

The Verizon Messages (Message+) Terms and Conditions | Verizon Wireless state "Data usage charges apply when using Integrated Calling, preview, location and search functions, and for the synchronization of messages among your devices."
