Why use unrecognizable/shortened URL's

Is there a reason some of the URL's being posted by VZW reps are shortened and not recognizable domains?  I, for one, am not comfortable clicking on a bizarre-looking URL, e.g.

...Just another VZW customer...trying to offer some assistance...

Great question I hope you get an answer. I know when I post a link it says where it is from

and ones from Verizon says what the link is. I too am leery on clicking on links.

Jav6, thank you for your feedback we appreciate your concern regarding the shortened URLs. We actually use them because they save space, and they look better. There is nothing else behind it, and if it is provided by a verified Verizon employee they will always be safe to click on.
