Unable to sign up for +Play "Buy Peacock, Get Netflix" offer

I received an email from Verizon Wireless, titled "Come back to +Play..."

I clicked on it to see if there are any new offers that would entice me (I ended my last +Play in December 2023). I see an offer to Buy Peacock Annual for $79.99, get one year Netflix Premium.  Peacock frankly is not worth $80/yr to me, but Netflix Premium would be.

So I click on the "Get it Now". I am asked to sign in. And once I sign in,  I am only shown normal Peacock subscriptions within +Play -- the offer to buy Peacock Premium Annual for $79.99 and get one year of Netflix, is nowhere to be found on the web page.

I have not had a NetFlix subscription for 8 months. I am NOT a cuI rrent Peacock Premium subscriber, having killed that subscription after the Olympics (it officially expired 8/22/2024; I am attempting the offer on 8/24/2024). The offer is conditioned to not be available to CURRENT Peacock Premium subscribers. I am NOT current. My Peacock Premium is expired (I have verified this on Peacock's website this morning). That expired Peacock Premium subscription, by the way, was through Peacock itself, not +Play.

This BOGO Peacock/Netflix deal expires on 8/31, so I'll try again later this week, but then, that's it.

+Play, you are only getting me on deals that actually are deals (such as this one). Outside of that, I am perfectly capable of handling my streaming subscriptions on my own.  I only use +Play when you offer something that beats dealing directly with the streaming services themselves.

Hi Churner1. That is a great deal especially with Netflix. We can take a closer look at account details to determine what could be the obstacle.  You mentioned subscribing to Netflix 8 months ago. Have you ever participated in a promotion with this Verizon account that included Netflix on us?

I did. The deal that ended in December 2023, was a Buy One Year AMC+, get one year Netflix. I had that from mid-December 2022 thru mid-December 2023. I would note, however, that the conditions listed say nothing about whether you have previously participated in one of these BOGO deals. If that would be the reason, that would be unfortunate, as frankly the only reason to go through +Play is to get a better deal than one can get by dealing directly through the streaming services. And other than these BOGO deals, I've not seen +Play offer anything that beats the discounts offered by the streamers services directly. (For example, I was only paying $2/month for Peacock when I killed it after the Olympics.)  Also, Netflix' failure to have an annual subscription with discount, is a major reason I have subscribed to them so infrequently.

Thanks for looking into it.

I appreciate you filling in the details. I think of the "free trials" we often se to test out a new service. Once we have participated in a "free trial" we cannot sign up on the same account with another "free trial" If you did want to subscribe to Netflix, you can also do this through Play+ where you pay $10 and get a $15 credit, which you may already be familar with.  Please reply to the following private message so we can review more options for you.

Okay, I guess you're saying that people are not permitted to do a "Buy One, Get One" a second time. Which is fine if that is the rule. But, that is not actually stated in the conditions, and should be if that is to be the rule. (I would not consider these BOGO deals to be "free trials", in that we're actually paying something up front.) As far as wanting to get Netflix right now, no, not really. I try to limit how many streaming services I have simultaneously (if you're subscribed to more than you can reasonably watch, then you're not really saving any money). Getting Netflix right now would actually have violated my personal rule on how many services to have at once -- before seeing the Peacock/Netflix offer, I was not planning to get Netflix until some point next year, and then for only enough months to watch my top priority series, and drop it again. The $80 for a year of Premium is what tempted me, but if it is not available to me, then Netflix can wait another 12 months before I next subscribe.

I'll say again, Netflix is missing out on securing people for a year by not offering annual subscriptions at a discount. With all of their customers subscribed monthly, it is conceivable for their entire customer base to quit at the same time (yes, they'd have to do something that really upsets people, for that to happen).

As to the pay $10 for $15 credit thing, I must confess, I have not used it. I find the concept confusing. Especially as the credit doesn't "bank", and so must be used or lose immediately.  Will pass for now.

Thank you for your time.
