3D Programming Availability - ready to be competitive yet?

OK so I'm sure this has been brought up before, but I would like to tackle it from a retail angle. I have been a FiOS customer for over 3 years already and I love the service thus far!!

My issue is why are are you being trumped by Comcast and DirecTV on 3D offerings?!

I have been in Sales for 10 years in Specialty Retail (formerly Tweeter and now The Big Screen Store). I cannot tell you how many people have your service and ask "when is FiOS going to catch up to everyone else?" in terms of 3D offerings. 3 out of 5 customers who I sell to either have FiOS or are wanting the service, but are hesitant because DirecTV and Comcast have moe 3D programming. I know we are still on the cusp of 3D popularity but many more people are showing interest and the WASHINGTON DC METRO AREA (VA/MD/DC/PA), AND this is one of Verizon's largest subscriber areas. They need to step it up!!!!

I'm sure there are corporate reasons as to why they have not added the already available channels, or created their own proprietary 3D channel, like Comcast just did, but you guys need to get past whatever boundaries that are preventing the channels from being readily accessible. I know other providers may have some exclusivity rights to the channels because they paid for it. SO MAKE YOUR OWN 3D NETWORK !!!!

🙂

So the question here is:

1. WHEN are the channels going to be added?

2. WHAT, if any, proprietary 3D channels are in the works to keep FiOS relevant in this market and competitive?

THe DC METRO AREA is protected from the economic woes of the rest of the country. People here have the money to pay for the services and want all the options...

STEP IT UP !!!!

Thanks,

Mark F.

What 3D channels are you referring to?  The Sony/IMAX/Disc 3D channel hasn't even launched yet! (And won't for some months yet).

Right now, FIOS has at least over 20 movies available in 3D (in the OnDemand section)

3net is the sony/imax/discovery channel.. its running on DirecTV, I use it at my showroom. Alslo, ESPN 3D has not "officially" been added yet by FiOS, AND both Xfinity and DirecTV took the initiative to create proprietary 24/7 3D Networks.

Xfinity has "Xfinity 3D network" - Now Available [Plus: ESPN 3D]

DirecTV has "n3D" - Now Available [Plus: ESPN 3D and 3net]

So my question was as to whether FiOS is going to be proactive and add either their own network, or at least adopt the ESPN3D CHannel.

Not to mention, Xfinity has a Tablet PC/Smartphone app to stream all VOD content, similat to FIOSTVONLINE.

I know I sound picky but Verizon seems to be Runner-up when it comes to adding Imprtant value-added functionality to their services. In the industry I work in, and because of how prevalent FiOS is in my area, they need to add these features in the DC area.

Thanks,

Mark F.

And YES I agree there is On Demand Content, most is Pay-per-view, and from what is offered in my area, HBO has a few freebies, and maybe one or two other free movies on FiOS on demand section.

I hope Verizon does NOT add one single live 3D channel until they can add some of the other channels that other providers have offered for some time.  Number one on my list is BBCA-HD.  3D should be limited to VOD until Verizon can technically address their HD channel limitation quandary.   I have actually lost HD channels in the last year.

Also a very big difference here, DirecTV Will Eventually Charge For 3D

This "may" follow suit with other providers, who knows..
