AFTER MARKET DIGITAL CONVERTER BOX, wILL IT WORK???

fRIEND OF MINE IS GETTING FIOS. THEY BOUGHT 2 DIGITAL CONVERTER BOXES. WILL THESE WORK ON THE SELDOM USED TVs? Fios is now charging monthly for their boxes???

I don't know how many times it has to be said on these boards - ABSOLUTELY NOT!!!

These boxes are for OTA (over the air) and are not compatible with FiOS or any cable system.  Search is your friend.

EDIT - MODs, can we get a sticky that says you can't use the government coupon converters on FiOS?  Pretty please with sugar on the top

I agree 100% with the above comment. HOWEVER, many of the people who post here seemingly have no intention of even trying to find out if their question has previously been asked and answered, they don't even appear to look down the list of threads on the first page before they post a new thread with the same question that is actually showing. And they seeming have no idea that they can do a search first, or how to search this site.  Some (many?) of these questions, like this one, have been answered many times, Somehow the pages need to be reformatted to encourage searching before posting a new question, plus add the sticky thingys with (bold) encouragement to read those first before starting a new thread. There are lots of users now on this forum, and far, far too many threads being started when they don't need to be.

Just my $.02 worth.

We have 2 verizon boxes, one is a DVR and know that it works with the digital signal.

What other boxes (that you provide) work for the digital signal?

You will not be effected if you use a Verizon STB. The digital conversion is only for people who use over the air (rabbit ears) ie, do not pay for cable.

Will aftermarket Motorola 7200, 6200, 7100, etc... boxes work, since the law says you can use your own devices, not have to rent them from the cable people??    I have Verizon Fios to the house and copper throughout. I have the Extreme Package.
