Really? It's not a problem that you have to forgo your DVR and switch to OTA broadcast and lose the service that YOU'RE paying for? And to add insult to injury, you're being USED as a pawn in a negociation? Wow, way to be passive.
Anyone who isn't shocked and dismayed by this tactic is the worst kind of pushover.
Yes, it's a huge problem, and I'm very angry and am rethinking my cable bill, as I stated in my post. No, I'm not passive and do not think it's fine for Verizon to screw everybody over when we are paying customers! They have violated their contract with us and hopefully when people realize that there are other solutions besides sitting around and waiting for Verizon to get their heads out of their butts, they will lose business. This is a quick a solution to be able to see the game tonight and I hope others do it and beat Verizon at it's own game. Geez, cwa1071...
Shame the high paid executives at Newport aren't smart enough to forward the number Verizon has on screen directly to the competition's sales department.
Oh well, once the public comes to the realization thru comparison of through the air signals that their fiber optic cable is slowly yet continually deteriorating this is going to cost Verizon a bundle.
Oh Boy! I am right there with you on this one. I'm so angry I could chew a nail in half. The dropping of the CBS channel was handled so poorly. Notification given the same day the channel was dropped. Further, to suggest that we (the loyal customer) should call their provider is just unacceptable. I called to cancel today and spoke to a rep who was not informed on what was going on in Harrisburg. She read me the same info from the message board. I asked to speak to someone who could give me more info and she referred me to the E-mail address which asks for my zip code and provides no option to state your case. I got to give it to you FIOS-you really no how to frustrate your customers.
Wouldn't it have made more sense for you to give us more warning as to what was going to transpire if you did not sucessfully negotiate your contract. No rationale or explanation-just a canned message. Your customers are not stupid FIOS. For the most part we are reasonable folks who just want what we paid for in our contract with you. Thank you to all my fellow customers who are not willing to accept your inappropriate business decision.
They came to an agreement yesterday.

Talk about being used as a pawn -- CW15 was scolling a message to their OTA customers for a week ahead of time for people to call Verizon or FiOS customers would lose the station. My friend who watches so little TV that she only does OTA let me know about it. I also found it on their web page. They practically advertised that they weren't going to bother with negotiations any longer. At least Verizon didn't get their customers involved until the contract expired and the station was off the air.
They're BOTH guilty here. But I feel like the station owner was the one being the most disingenuous in this one.
Imagine if we suddenly had no TV service at all? I'm not minimizing these concerns or trying to be sarcastic but it's just a shame how TV has become that important in our society.
