We called Comcast tongith and we are switching back. It sickens me how these companies think they can just do whatever they want to. I certainly hope Verizon isn't expeciting full payment this month from us!!!

I recently left Comcast because they would just drop or move channels whenever they wanted.  I ONLY ever knew about it because my TiVo would detect a lineup change and give me a warning message.  It got to the point right before we left them for FiOS that we were getting messages from TiVO at least once a week (sometimes twice) and always about a channel being moved or removed.  Comcast is no better.  Just thought I'd warn ya.

Both parties (Verizon and CBS/Newport) really angered me for putting us the viewers in the middle of their dispute.

When our renewal comes due, Direct TV is looking awfully good to us (we liked our Direct TV but thought we would see if we could save some money with Verizon Fios).   Fios most likely will lose our subscription.   Channel 21 will lose my viewer ship of their local programming (morning and evening local news).

Both parties need to do some major butt kissing for me to forget what they did to the viewers, especailly during the NFL playoffs.

The person(s) responsible for dropping the programming should be fired for letting this happen.  That was very disrespectful to the viewers.  Very inconsiderate and bad business practice.

It is ridiculous that FIos has dropped the CBS stations!  They and Newport Television need to resume/continue negotiations to get CBS back on the line-up!

I switched to Fios in Oct. from Comcast.  I hope I did not make a mistake!!

Before everyone starts thumping thier chests and saying they are going to drop Verizon, they need to realize this is an industry wide problem and is occuring on other carriers (Comcast, Time Warner, DirectTV, etc.) as well.

Of course in the end, it is we the consumer, that is getting screwed by all.

I completely agree with you.  It stinks for the customer but the very same thing happened with carrying New York's ABC Channel 7 on Cablevision and the station's programs were brought back once they reached an agreement so the time and expense involved in switching providers wouldn't even be worth it, in my opinion.  But of course, customers are always free to take their business elsewhere if they're that unhappy with it.  Losing a major network station though is always a temporary thing because neither Verizon nor any of the cable companies want to lose business over that so eventually, they will reach a deal with the network.  And I'm not quick to blame Verizon and I'm not a Verizon employee because how do we know that the network station wasn't asking Verizon for some ridiculous amount of extra money to keep broadcasting its programs on Verizon?  Without knowing all the details, it's hard to say.

I don't get upset over not having one of the network stations temporarily.  All I mostly watch on those stations anyway is the national news.  It's so much garbage on a lot of the stations anyway.  I could be staying at a hospital or at an inn without any TV service at all and I wouldn't care.  This is just a luxury that we're paying for.  I'm really not sensitive over stuff like this.

And if it's that important to have that one particular TV station at the moment, it's possible to try using a rabbit ears antenna.  It may not be great but it's better than nothing.  Or people can get the TV programs on line.  I often prefer to listen to my local classical music radio station on the stereo or to read a book when there is nothing on TV worth watching.  TV isn't everything but I understand the concern about getting the maximum service for all the money we are paying for it.

I'm afraid it's a new reality in the world of 21st century corporate America that we all have to deal with now.  This is one of the very reasons why I was perfectly content with keeping the old fashioned antenna reception on an analog TV until the plug was pulled on that because it was free and a lot more dependable and not vulnerable to all of this fighting over profits and greed or a broken wire in the closet.  Even if I had the option of going back to my childhood days of having only 4 network stations, I would gladly consider that too.
