Ever since 1.7 got loaded into my 7216, when I'm watching TV the fron LCD will display the channel number instead of the clock at randon times. I have the menu option set to "clock".. and the clock displayes 90% of the time - However, occasionally, I'll look up and see the channel # displayed for about 10sec, then it goes back to the clock. Anyone else notice this?

Yes, it now does that. It does it on the hour, and maybe the half hour or quarter hour as well, I don't know. Does it really bother you? I noticed it {edit} Just the way it works now it seems to me.

It does change back eventually but it takes way too long to change back from the channel #.

Hello. I started noticing this today -- it constantly has the channel instead of clock, as directed, and it bothers me a lot: I need to know the time, I have meds to take and a life to live. Besides, of course it should bother people when equipment doesn't work properly. How do we fix this, please? Thanks.

I think it takes one minute. I took notice of this last night, and it appears that once it hit HH:01 or HH:31the time comes back.

Mine went back to normal last night. I pressed the STB button on my remote a couple of times tho that probably had nothing to do with what I guess was an HQ thing -- mine didn't change back for hours not one minute. It normally takes up to a whole minute to change back.

fdnydave, what you see is a new issue. the one before is a problem where on the hour it would change from clock to channel then back again.
Yours is a new one that came with 1.7.1. where the clock will not come back at all. There are two fixes. First you can try rebooting the stb. In a lot of cases this fixes the issue. Easy reboot sequence.
Menu-->Settings-->System Info. enter 2601 using the remote. will get "code entered successfully" then the stb will reboot.
If this fails, then you will need to call tech support and have them initialize the stb and in most cases this will fix the issue.

I had this issue two weeks ago. The solution is simple. As I read from other posts on this problem, the only way to fix this problem is do nothing. Give it a couple days and the problem will correct itself.
I was skeptical at first, but after two days my STB began to show the time instead of the channel, as normal.
You don't need to call VZ CS, it will resolve itself in a couple days.
