Just wondering; I have 6 HD STB's scattered around the apartment, and wondering if/what the extra monthly cost is to have another on the FIOS network.
Wait, they are not already connected? Are they Verizon boxes that you are renting? If they are, then you're paying $9.99/month for them whether they're connected to the network or not.
I meant what it would cost to get another one; I guess $9.99/mo is the answer.
My presumtion is that Verizon would be absolutely against me purchasing, secondhand, an identical model and trying to activate it? Meaning, is the $9.99/mo really for the rental of the box or is it also a monthly "cost" of getting FiOS TV to another television?

Verizon will absolutely NOT activate a "second hand" box you bought. All boxes are owned by Verizon and any sold on E-Bay (or wherever) are considered stolen. See THIS POST.
Also, keep in mind that you will have reached the maximum number of devices (7) currently supported due to the MoCA device count limitation of the Actiontec router.
I suspected nearly as much.
So wait; if you lose your STB, pay the $400-$500 replacement charge or whatever, and then find it, you still don't own it and have to give it back? What happens? Does Verizon give back your money, and you send them back the replacement box and continue paying the $9.99 monthly fee for the original you start using again?
