Verizon has installed FIOS TV in surrounding areas in my neighborhood, but does not appear to be adding to their network. I recently read an article in my local paper that reported Verizon has stopped adding to their FIOS network. When I ask Verizon, they can not or will not inform me if and when they will add my town (Cheektowaga) to their FIOS network.
Does anyone know what Verizon's plans are and if they will continue to add additional towns to the FIOS network when they are already established?

From what I've heard, they are trying to build out in the localities where they already have franchises and are obligated to have a system in place by a certain year. They are only putting new localities (and more new obligations) on hold right now. If you see FiOS close to where you live, it will still be on the way.

I wouldn't expect anything till 2011 at the earliest. The only people that can get new Fios are the ones that already have it available to them and just haven't ordered it yet. I'm in the same boat as you....I want it but they just haven't wired my neighborhood yet. There is no video franchise in Cheektowaga so they have no obligation to build out new neighborhoods.
