I am considering Fios as a replacement to cable. Last I heard the HD boxes that are supplied do not show the time except for the DVR boxes.
Although a petty issue, this is an issue for me as I'm used to looking at my boxes for the time.
I plan on getting the multiroom DVR service but I was told they only supply 1 box which would leave me with 2 boxes with no time display.
Can anyone that has recenlty signed up for Fios in the NYC area confirm whether the non DVR HD boxes display the time?

I have the QIP7100-2 HD box. It does not display the time.
I'm not in the NYC area, but to my knowledge the boxes don't vary by geographical area.
THANKS walt
It's not a matter of STB vs. DVR. From what I can tell, only 1 of the 10 models of STB does not have a clock display available on the front panel.
The following models have clocks:
SD STB: Motorola 2500
SD DVR: Motorola 2708
HD STB: Motorola 6200, 7100-P1; Cisco 335
HD DVR: Motorola 6416, 7216, 7232; Cisco 435
The following model does not have a clock:
HD STB: Motorola 7100-P2
The problem is that Verizon usually doesn't give you a choice of which box you get. And I don't have any idea which ones are more prevalent. Hope this helps.
(Now correct thanks to walt178)

HD DVR: Motorola 7232-2 does have a clock. I don't know about versions other than -2.
Thanks for the correction walt178. I don't know from personal experience. Just going off of what the manuals did or did not say, and what other posters have complained about on here. I could see from the picture that it did have a front channel display, but couldn't find anywhere about whether it had a stand-by clock display.
It can be hard to tell what you get from the pictures. The manuals I've seen tend to be generic rather than specific, so the distinctions between versions isn't always obvious. That's not strictly a Verizon problem. I've seen the same thing in non Verizon equipment.
the Cisco box has time i believe.. and also the 7100p1 has time on it..
in fact here's the page that shows all the images and models
http://www22.verizon.com/support/residential/tv/fiostv/receivers/user+guides/user+guides.htm
Thanks for the page, avemaria92. It's more convenient than the one I have been using.
