My new TV has an Ethernet port.  My IPC1100 set top box Ethernet port doesn’t appear to be active.

The Ethernet port on the main unit (VMS) isn't used. The VMS uses coaxial cable to connect to the ONT and minis.

The Ethernet port on the rear of the remote/mini unit is an input (an alternative to the coaxial cable). The units connect to a TV via the HDMI port or, for older sets, an adapter that has RCA plugs on one end and a 1/8 or 3/32 on the other.
